Hello, lovelies!
I hope you're all having a safe and fun summer!
My dearest friend Nina and I are back with our fun Double Dare Challenge today!
The rules are simple, Nina and I both come up with one item or technique or theme, reveal it to each other, then create a card using both of our picks!
My dearest friend Nina and I are back with our fun Double Dare Challenge today!
The rules are simple, Nina and I both come up with one item or technique or theme, reveal it to each other, then create a card using both of our picks!
So let's see what we had to work with for our first challenge!
Improve one of your old designs from the past.
Use one of the items you've been hoarding in your stash.
Here is what I came up with...;-)
This sweet piggy image is from DRS Designs, they were one of the regular sponsors for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge and I got several cute rubber stamps from them.
Here is my original card using the same piggy stamp.
It is from March of 2016 (click HERE to see the post) and I was obviously very new at no-line watercoloring! My poor piggy looks like ham at the deli counter!!! {LOL} I remember struggling with the bubbles, too!
I have had many practices since then and know how I want my images to look like now, which is light and soft, less is more. I also love to add some kind of sparkle and for this card, I applied Nuvo Crystal Drops to my bubbles.
I LOVE sentiment dies!
I have so many from many different small companies, some words are even duplicate or triplicate! Their fonts are all different though! {LOL} So while I have other things that I've been hoarding, using this fun die from STAMPlorations worked the best with today's design. I die cut 2 of them, heat embossed one of them with iridescent EP and mounted it on the other one for a little dimension.
My original card was created for the color challenge and while I still love to layer a bunch of patterned papers, I seemed to be too concentrated on the challenge colors and made it very heavy. Bubbles are light and airy so that's what I focused on this time. I found this blue paper with white dots, which remindeme of bubbles. Mounting the panel with the image right on this patterned paper looked too washed out but I didn't want another color added. This vellum with white dots did the trick. I added a few yellow enamel dots on the right upper corner, and clear enamel dots around the sentiment for the finishing touch.
So what do you think?
Is today's card an "improvement" from my original card!!?
I certainly think so!
Hope you try our challenge yourself and share with us on social media!
Have a lovely week!
