Newton's Nook Designs

Wednesday, July 31, 2019

Hello, lovelies!
Can you believe today is the last day of July!!?
Hope you're all enjoying this beautiful summer!!!
So I am just making a quick stop with this magical card that is on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog today ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Believe in Unicorns Set - Naki Rager

I hadn't used the Believe in Unicorns set for ages so decided to give it a little love πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ’œ
This is the problem when you have so many cute NND sets! (1st world problem...LOL)

Newton's Nook Designs Believe in Unicorns Set - Naki Rager

Okay, so I had another reason for picking this set for today's card.
I've been struggling with alcohol-based markers and kind of given up, but I noticed that Copic has so many pale, soft colors that I love so I ordered this little pastel set and wanted to try.  Well, what do you know!!? It turned out not so bad! So this adorable unicorn was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored in, then die cut with the coordinating die. I also used one of the sentiments and "unicorn dust" from the same set and heat embossed them with gold EP. Oh, and for his horn, I used Nuvo Pale Gold Crystal Drops just between the lines to give some dimension.

Newton's Nook Designs Believe in Unicorns Set - Naki Rager

This magical background was created on watercolor paper using the new Clouds Stencil and Hills & Grass Stencil from the July Release. I used watercolor paper so that I could splatter a lot of water! For the finishing touch, I sprinkled some iridescent star confetti for more magical effects;-)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Have a lovely rest of the week!

Newton's Nook Designs 6 Year Celebration Blog Hop

Friday, July 19, 2019

Happy Friday, my friends!
Did you enjoy the reveal week!!? I bet your wishlist is like a mile long! {LOL}
All the new products are now available for purchase in the NND shop!
We're continuing the Newton's Nook Designs 6 Year Celebration with the blog hop today!
I made 2 cards to showcase the 2 new Stencil Sets, Hibiscus and Pineapple 🌺🍍

Newton's Nook Designs Corgi Beach Set, Hibiscus Die Set, Hibiscus and Pineapple Stencils - Naki Rager

I wanted these stencil sets to be the star of the designs for today's cards ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Corgi Beach Set, Hibiscus Stencils - Naki Rager

First up is the Hibiscus Stencil Sets.
I had this adorable hula corgi from the Corgi Beach Set already colored and he was just perfect!

Newton's Nook Designs Corgi Beach Set, Hibiscus Stencils - Naki Rager

I first used the stencil with the leaves and blended Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink, then swapped the stencils and used the one with the flowers and a thick coat of embossing paste. I watercolored the flower petals with deep pink then the clear glitter pen.

Newton's Nook Designs Corgi Beach Set, Hibiscus Stencils - Naki Rager

This little corgi is shaking his little tail off wearing the grass skirt and lai around his neck ;-)
He was watercolored and die cut with the coordinating die.
I borrowed the Aloha sentiment die from the Aloha Newton Die Set and applied Nuvo Crystal Drops to it (apparently, I took this photo before it was completely dry...oops!)

Newton's Nook Designs Corgi Beach Set, Hibiscus Stencils - Naki Rager

I die cut 2 strips of green cardstock with fringe die to create "grass skirt".
This is really bright for me {LOL} but I love how it turned out!

Newton's Nook Designs Hibiscus Die Set, Pineapple Stencils - Naki Rager

And here is the Pineapple Stencil Set ;-)
Have I told you how much I love pineapples!!? 🍍
It is my favorite fruit of all, I can't resist anything that has pineapple images, and it's really good to have a pineapple in the kitchen in case of intruders because they're so hard and heavy, it'd make a great weapon! {LOL}

Newton's Nook Designs Hibiscus Die Set, Pineapple Stencils - Naki Rager

The same process as the Hibiscus card, I blended 2 greens and one of the stencils with the leaves for the leaf part, then using the other stencil and embossing paste for the actual fruit part. Once the paste had dried, I colored with the Yellow Glimmer Glaze Fine Glitter Paint. It took me a long time because the paste kept absorbing the paint on me!

Newton's Nook Designs Hibiscus Die Set, Pineapple Stencils - Naki Rager

I die cut 2 leaves and a hibiscus flower with the Hibiscus Die Set.
Then this cute little ticket that was die cut using the ticket die from the Framework Die Set and heat embossed the sentiment, which I borrowed from the Aloha Newton Stamp Set.

The Jude twine adds the natural, organic look and it goes so well with the pineapples and hibiscus, doesn't it!? I didn't want to ruin that feel so no sequins!

Newton's Nook Designs 6 Year Celebraion Release Day 4

Thursday, July 18, 2019

Well, hello, there!
Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs 6 Year Celebration!
It is already the final reveal day, hope you've been as excited as we are!
All the new products will be available for purchase tomorrow Friday the 19th in the NND Shop, but hold your horses before you go shopping at midnight tonight because we will have a blog hop for more inspirations tomorrow!!! ;-)

First up is this darling Lemon Twist πŸ‹
I LOVE lemons! Lemons make any meals/deserts taste better, don't they!!?
Not to mention they smell lovely, they look pretty, and they even clean!!!

Woo Hoo!
We've got some new mini stamp sets and just look at this one here!!!
The Gull Friends Set is so puny and so cute πŸ’—

WOW!
Another Newton set!
The Newton's Melon set is simply adorable, this is a must-have for certain!

And then, here is the Shrimp Cocktail set πŸ˜†πŸΉ
These little shrimps holding little cocktail glasses are killing me!!!!!
Okay, here I go...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Lemon Twist Set - Naki Rager

First up is my sweet (or sour!!?) lemon card ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Lemon Twist Set - Naki Rager

Coloring this lemon was an absolute joy πŸ‹πŸ’›
Bright yellow just makes you so happy, doesn't it!!?

Newton's Nook Designs Lemon Twist Set - Naki Rager

I'm not sure why but as soon as I saw this set, I wanted to pair this bright fruit with buffalo plaid.
I added a little strip of yellow cardstock and yellow EP to heat emboss this cheerful sentiment on a vellum ticket that was die cut with the little ticket die from the Framework Die Set, splashed a bit of light blue and I was done!

Newton's Nook Designs Gull Friends Set - Naki Rager

Here we have are the cutest little seagulls you've ever seen ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Gull Friends Set - Naki Rager

While I was coloring these guys, all I could think about was
"mine! mine! mine!" 😝
After watercoloring and die cutting the image, I stamped the sentiment on this long skinny speech bubble, which was die cut using the Speech Bubbles Die Set.

Newton's Nook Designs Gull Friends Set - Naki Rager

These buddies are just hanging out on some logs by the ocean on this beautiful sunny day.
I used the new Clouds Edge Stencil to create the blue sky with puffy summer clouds, then popped on the ocean, which was die cut using the wavy die from the Sea Borders Die Set. I used this wavy patterned paper to add some fun to this pretty simple design.

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Melon Set - Naki Rager

This adorable image can be paired with so many other NND sets, it would be kind of silly not to get one! For today's card, I used him alone and he couldn't have been any cuter!

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Melon Set - Naki Rager

Have I mentioned I've totally, completely given up on alcohol based markers!? {LOL}
So this cutie was watercolored as all the other images ;-) My latest favorite is coloring kitties like my Bramble, he has such unique markings! This one is a bit different though, but he is still my muse!

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Melon Set - Naki Rager

Your beloved kitties (or pups or any other fur babies, or maybe they have feathers or scales!) certainly is one in a melon special, aren't they!!? That is exactly why I used the Sunscape Stencil to give this special kitty golden rays ;-) I even had confetti washi tape! But I needed to separate the confetti washi and the front panel because they both have a lot of white and kind of blended into each other. So I found this skinny washi tape that has solid pink and black & white stripes, which kind of pick up my kitty's markings. So I die cut the kitty shape from pink cardstock and tucked under the kitty to add a teeny tiny bit of pink also.

Newton's Nook Designs Shrimp Cocktail Set - Naki Rager

Last but not least, the Shrimp Cocktail set!
These guys simply crack.me.up.!!!!! {LOL}

Newton's Nook Designs Shrimp Cocktail Set - Naki Rager

These guys may be tiny, but that doesn't stop them from dressing up pretty and fancy!
They put on their sparkly red "dresses" and drinking fancy appletini ;-)
Seriously, stop!!! They are just so stinkin' cute πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

Newton's Nook Designs Shrimp Cocktail Set - Naki Rager

This pun is the best pun EVER!!!
It cracks me up no matter how many times I see it!!!
Jen is such a clever girl, isn't she!!? {LOL}
I heat embossed it with gold EP on this blush vellum banner, which was die cut using one of the banner dies from the Frames & Flags Die Set.

Newton's Nook Designs Shrimp Cocktail Set - Naki Rager

Small images might be a bit tricky to work with, but don't stress it!
By creating a little shaker, the images are still the focal point but they don't look so small because a shaker doesn't steal their thunder! This shaker was made with layers of scalloped frames die cut using the Framework Die Set, and everything was mounted onto this simple but festive patterned paper and that is it!

Newton's Nook Designs 6 Year Celebration Release Day 3

Wednesday, July 17, 2019

Hello, there!
Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs 6 Year Celebration!
Today is the day 3 of the reveal and I cannot wait for you to see what we have!

This one is called Tropical Fringe, isn't it beautiful and fun!!?

This is the Zoo Party set πŸ’—
It is absolutely adorable, I can't even stand it!!!
Okay, here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Tropical Fringe Set - Naki Rager

Don't you just LOVE this beautiful image all colored in!!?
I REALLY enjoyed coloring this fun, gorgeous image πŸ’œπŸ’›πŸ’š

Newton's Nook Designs Tropical Fringe Set - Naki Rager

A very simple design;-)
I heat embossed the image with tan EP and watercolored, then trimmed down the panel with the paper trimmer to have just a skinny trim outside, which I colored it very pale blue. The sentiment was heat embossed with rose gold EP and the summer part was colored in. I popped the square panel with foam tape on this very CAS patterned paper. I didn't want any distractions around this gorgeous image ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Zoo Party Set - Naki Rager

This is so stinkin' cute, I don't even know what to say! {LOL}
This stamp reminded me of my son's first birthday, I had an animal theme πŸŠπŸ’πŸ˜

Newton's Nook Designs Zoo Party Set - Naki Rager

I literally have nothing on this card except this super adorable, super sweet group of animals partying their tails off! It was heat embossed with light gray EP and watercolored. And the same process as the Tropical Fringe card, the panel was trimmed down than popped on this CAS patterned paper.
I chose to make 4-1/4" square cards to really frame these square stamps.

Newton's Nook Designs 6 Year Celebration Release Day 2

Tuesday, July 16, 2019

Hey, there!
Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs 6 Year Celebration Release!
All the new products will be available for purchase this Friday the 19th in the NND Shop!
We'll also have a celebration blog hop on Friday so set your reminder now!
Alright, we're revealing 2 super fun and adorable stamp sets along with their coordinating die sets today!

These adorable kitties in the Newton's Perfect Wave Set are catching some waves today!
Ohmygoodness, their swimsuits!!! 😻

The Scuba Newton Set is SOOOO CUTE, isn't it!!?
Okay, let's take a look at what I created with these cuties...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Perfect Wave Set - Naki Rager

I created this funky background with the new Waves & Splashes Edge Stencil for this cool kitty to ride on! I even added some "salt" to the waves with the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Perfect Wave Set - Naki Rager

I say this all the time but Newton really is one cool feline, isn't he!!?
I wish I could surf with him, but I can't even swim {LOL}
Doesn't he look fabulous with his gorgeous tan!!? He probably goes surfing when he gets off work as s supervisor at the NND HQ!

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Perfect Wave Set - Naki Rager

Although this stamp set comes with fun sentiments, I thought this watercolored sentiment die looked better with my "rainbow" waves. I borrowed the Aloha die from the Aloha Newton Die Set ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Perfect Wave Set - Naki Rager

I couldn't help myself but to make a slider with this kitty!
It must feel so awesome riding those waves!!!

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Perfect Wave Set - Naki Rager

My second card using the new Newton's Perfect Wave Set is sweet in pink πŸ’—

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Perfect Wave Set - Naki Rager

This pretty kitty was watercolored (of course) and die cut using the coordinating die. She even wears a little hibiscus on her head, which was watercolored and fussy cut. Surfer girls are so pretty with their tan and salty beachy hair, aren't they!!?

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Perfect Wave Set - Naki Rager

I used some blue tape to get that clean line when blending some Distress Oxide ink to create this early morning background. I am NOT a morning person but if I could surf and lived by the sea, I'd wake up with the sun and catch some waves, too!

Newton's Nook Designs Scuba Newton Set - Naki Rager

Well, Newton must be on vacation at some tropical island!
He is scuba diving this time with some fish friends!

Newton's Nook Designs Scuba Newton Set - Naki Rager

Just like surfing, I wish I could scuba but I cannot swim = I am afraid to go in the deep sea (or just a pool that is deeper than my height, really...). Anyway! I watercolored the scuba kitty and his marine friends then die cut using the coordinating dies. I colored one of the fish to be powder blue tang (that little gray one), which is my favorite saltwater fish other than puffers! Their colors are absolutely beautiful, it is breathtaking!

Newton's Nook Designs Scuba Newton Set - Naki Rager

Some seaweed, clownfish, and butterflyfish were also watercolored and die cut with the coordinating dies.
The seaweed and coral were glued down onto the base card, and all the fish were popped on with foam tape. I kind of wanted them to shake around with the beads as they were swimming, but I was afraid they'd get lost!

Newton's Nook Designs Scuba Newton Set - Naki Rager

I created some current using the Waves Stencil and embossing paste to give some texture.
I put clear bead seeds in my shaker to be the salt water, and some fun patterned circle confetti are like air bubbles coming out of everyone swimming! The scalloped frame was die cut with the Framework Die Set, I chose this smaller frame to make it look like Newton's friend is trying to take an underwater photo ;-)
