Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 445

Monday, April 30, 2018

Hello, lovelies!
Newton's Nook Designs is sponsoring the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge and I am joining in the fun! Check out the theme below! ;-)

So how to play this challenge is, they have theme week and color week along with an inspirational picture of cupcakes. You must use the theme/color combo of the week to create your project, and if the cupcake picture inspires you, go ahead and use it but not required to. Fun, isn't it!?

Here goes my card...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Wedding Frills Set - Naki Rager

For today's floral card, I used the just-released Wedding Frills Set and the Essential Alphabet Die Set ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Wedding Frills Set - Naki Rager

I heat embossed this beautiful image with gold embossing powder on watercolor paper and colored with poppy, orange, black, green, and light blue watercolor. I then did a lot of fussy cutting and popped them on different levels to create this cluster of flowers!

Newton's Nook Designs Wedding Frills Set - Naki Rager

I used the Essential Alphabet Die Set to create this big and bold sentiment! I placed the letters on white cardstock and kept them in place with washi tape while running through my Big Shot, and I mounted it on black cardstock. I sprinkled some sparkling clear sequins as finishing touch, of course ;-) I LOVE how this card turned out! Hope you do, too!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Make sure to head over to the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog to check out other DT members' work, and link up your floral card for a chance to win a gift certificate!

Newton's Nook Designs

Tuesday, April 10, 2018

Hello, lovelies!
Hope you had a wonderful Easter!
I am up on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog with this springy card today!
"Spring Break🌸" last week was more like a "Winter Break⛄" and I just had to escape from the cold reality! {LOL}

Newton's Nook Designs Happy Little Thoughts Set - Naki Rager

I have been re-organizing my stamps and dies and finally got to my huge collection of NND last week! And when I saw the Splendid Stags Die Set and remembered how much I love these fabulous dies! So I built this design around him ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Happy Little Thoughts Set - Naki Rager

If you know me, then you know that I am a Pinterest addict, especially the kitty photos on my "Crazy Cat Lazy" board {LOL} I love those adorable kitties wearing pretty flower crowns on their little heads, it is too much cuteness to handle! {LOL} I had to chop off the handsome buck's "manhood" in order to put my flower crown on my stag (sorry!) I stamped the flowers with white ink on yellow cardstock, colored the petals with white colored pencil, and added some details with a pink pencil, then fussy cut. Those gold dots were made with Nuvo Bright Gold Crystal Drops. The sentiment is from the Fanciful Florals Set, it was heat embossed with gold embossing powder on white cardstock and fussy cut.

Newton's Nook Designs Happy Little Thoughts Set - Naki Rager

I stamped this beautiful flower wreath from the Happy Little Thoughts Set with Antique Linen Distress Ink on white cardstock and colored with colored pencils. I die cut the wreath out, removed the centerpiece, and put back the wreath where it was to create a shaker ;-) I mounted my shaker panel on a few patterned papers in different sizes and a doily. It wasn't my plan but this turned out very girly and I absolutely love it 💗

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed this little bit of spring today ;-)
Next week is the reveal of the NND April release so do come back!

MFT 2017 Design Superstar Contest

Monday, September 18, 2017

Hi, there!
I'm making a quick stop to share this card that I made for the My Favorite Things 2017 Design Superstar Contest today!
They have 3 categories and I am entering this one to the Innovation Master!

MFT London Mouse Set - Naki Rager

I used the My Favorite Things London Mouse set to create a little London street ;-)
All the images were heat embossed with light gray embossing powder on watercolor paper, water colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush set, then fussy cut.
The Stitched Scallop Circle Die-namics was used for my little background, which was sponged with Distress Oxide ink in Broken China and Cracked Pistachio, and splattered some water, then added tiny dots with white acrylic paint using the top of a paintbrush.

MFT London Mouse Set - Naki Rager

Of course, I had to make the double-decker bus go!
The Big Ben was mounted on the scallop circle, the adorable houses were popped on with foam tape, and I used thicker foam tape to place my lovely bus ;-) I didn't have a sentiment that would go well with this little town, so I die cut "HI." with the Emmitt Alphabet Die-namics from white cardstock, chopped them, then mounted them onto a peachy cardstock.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Newton's Nook Designs

Wednesday, May 24, 2017

Hello lovelies!
I hope you are having nice weather!
Today I am up on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog with a fun, summery card!
Here it goes...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Hibiscus Purr-fect Die Set - Naki Rager

I decided to make this beachy card because I have been missing beaches lately!

Newton's Nook Designs Hibiscus Purr-fect Die Set - Naki Rager

And I simply wanted to use this beautiful Hibiscus Purr-fect Die set ;-)
I die cut the flower from watercolor paper then water colored. I splatter a lot of water to make it look like there is dew on it.

Newton's Nook Designs Hibiscus Purr-fect Die Set - Naki Rager

The background was water colored with Tempting Turquoise ink, and yellow ink with lots of water was splattered, then more splatters with just water. I used the wave stencil and lightly applied embossing paste so it looks like an ocean. The ocean panel was mounted on this patterned paper that has schools of fish, and my fun pineapple and striped washi tapes were added on;-) I can almost smell the salty air!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Newton's Nook Designs May Release Day 2 - Newton Dreams of Italy Set

Wednesday, May 10, 2017

Hello lovelies!
Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs May Release!
All the new goodies will be available for purchase this Friday the 12th over at the Newton's Nook Designs Shop!
Today is day 2, and we are revealing the Newton Dreams of Italy set along with the coordinating die set!

Look at this kitty! Newton goes to Italy this time!
I am honestly jealous of Newton!
Alright, here goes my take ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Newton Dreams of Italy Set - Naki Rager

Oh my goodness!
Isn't he just so stinkin' cute!!? {heart}

Newton's Nook Designs Newton Dreams of Italy Set - Naki Rager

This cutie was stamped with Antique Linen Distressed Ink on watercolor paper, watercolored, then die cut with the coordinating die. I decided to make this kitty a Siamese because, well, doesn't he look like he has a big beard!!? {LOL}

Newton's Nook Designs Newton Dreams of Italy Set - Naki Rager

I watercolored the bottom half of the circle panel with Bermuda Bay ink, the other half with Soft Sky. I also watercolored scrap with Bermuda bay then tore it with hands. The circle panel was placed where the opening is on the Neenah White Cardstock panel, the other water piece was adhered onto the back of the front panel before it was mounted on with foam tape. My kitty on the gondola was also popped on with foam tape between the 2 river pieces. The sentiment and a little heart were heat embossed with white on Bermuda Bay Cardstock. I stamped the same heart again on white cardstock and colored it in the Italian flag colors with Spectrum Noir Markers, fussy cut then glued it on top of the heat embossed heart.

Well, how could I NOT make another card with this adorable set!!?

Newton's Nook Designs Newton Dreams of Italy Set - Naki Rager

Who doesn't like a bowl of spaghetti with tomato sauce!?
I have a feeling there were meatballs too but this adorable kitty ate them before you could even see them...{LOL} He was heat embossed in tan, watercolored, then die cut with the coordinating die. The glass of wine, bottle of wine, and glass jar of olive oil (SO pretty!) were heat embossed in white, watercolored, then also die cut with the coordinating dies.

Newton's Nook Designs Newton Dreams of Italy Set - Naki Rager

I die cut the biggest heart from the Daling Hearts Purr-fect Die Set from some scrap and used it as a stencil. The big heart was watercolored then the sentiment was heat embossed.  I also borrowed that pretty vine from the Love Grows set ;-)

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 401

Sunday, April 2, 2017

Hello my lovelies!
I hope you enjoyed our 400th celebrations last week!
Congratulations to the winners! {woo hoo!}
Now we are back to our regular schedule, and this week's sponsor is Birch Press Design.

And we have this beautiful color combo for you this week!
These cupcakes are so pretty!
Alright, here is my take...;-)

I apologize for this blurry photo... I'm so frustrated with my camera! {ugh!}
But at least I had so much fun making this card! ;-)

I got this adorable Japanese girl in her kimono from Sweet Stamp Shop, I just had to have this set! I stamped the image with antique linen distressed ink on watercolor paper, and colored her with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Set. This was my second try because I'm not very good at coloring with dark colors, so the maroon kind of ruined my first one {LOL}. The set comes with its own sentiment "konnichiwa", but I thought, why not write it in Japanese myself!? So I wrote it with my Stazon marker then heat embossed it.

Those lanterns were stamped with Calypso Coral ink on watercolor paper, fussy cut, popped on with foam tape, and little snippets of gold twine were added. Those puffy cherry blossom stickers were sent from my mom years ago. It's almost cherry blossom season in Japan, and it is my absolute favorite time of the year there! The petals of those delicate flowers fall from their trees is like a pink blizzard, it is simply breathtaking! People go to parks and have picnics under the cherry blossom trees and paper lanterns every spring, especially at night! Anyway, that's what the splatters represent on this card, a cherry blossom blizzard ;-)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Don't forget to head over to the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog and check out what my fabulous teammates created!

So sweet and romantic!

Isn't this just the sweetest!!?

The sponsor very generously provided us a few digi images to work with, thank you!
But I purchased this cutie, Winston Bear Etty Shy myself (long story...lol)
I LOVE their adorable, fuzzy bears! just so sweet!
I colored this one with yellow, just like beloved Pooh bear ;-)
I am starting to really enjoy my alcohol based markers! (so I ordered more...lol)

This beautiful patterned paper is from the Winnie Sugar Sprinkles Paper Heaven 4 bundle that the sponsor gave us ;-) I love it!
A sweet, sketchy heart for a sweetheart ;-)

A few white sequins were sprinkled all over the card, perfect!
This card was really fun to make!
Fussy cutting the bear wasn't the easiest but it was totally worth the effort!

Today we're sharing this adorable set called "Hedgehog Hollow"!
Are you ready to see these cuties!?

EEEEEEEK!
Aren't they just darling!!?
Here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Hedgehog Hollow Set - Naki Rager

They are such sweet images, I wanted to make it look like a children's book cover ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Hedgehog Hollow Set - Naki Rager

I stamped this sweet, sweet hedgehog with a cute little ladybug with Sahara Sand on watercolor paper. It was water colored with my Stampin' Up reinkers. This was such an adorable image just stamped, but it was like they came to life after getting colored in!

Newton's Nook Designs Hedgehog Hollow Set - Naki Rager

I enjoyed this month's new release and I think this cutie is my favorite of all!
I mean, look how sweet and innocent it looks!!! :-D
I just love it!!!

Newton's Nook Designs Hedgehog Hollow Set - Naki Rager

Okay, now my second card with this cutie!
Did you wonder why I only made one card with the Beautiful Leaves Set on day2?
Well, here it is, I couldn't share til today! ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Hedgehog Hollow Set - Naki Rager

This little hedgie sitting in a tea cup is just too adorable!
I heat embossed the image with my glittery, light gold on glossy white cardstock, then again on watercolor paper. I fussy cut the water colored hedgie then paper pieced on the glossy one. The gorgeous leaves were also heat embossed with the light gold then water colored. Those rich fall colors certainly look beautiful with gold, don't they!?

Newton's Nook Designs Hedgehog Hollow Set - Naki Rager

I also heat embossed the sentiment "thankful" from the Beautiful Leaves set on vellum. I love this light gold emboss powder but it is not very visible on light colors. I mounted on snippet of orange ribbon but still can't see in the photos :-(
This fun background was made with this pierced circle die, isn't it awesome!?

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 367

Sunday, July 17, 2016

Hi there, happy Sunday!
It's time for another Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!
This week's sponsor is Your Next Stamp!
Who doesn't love their fun, adorable stamps and dies!

I LOVE this theme, so fun!
And Your Next Stamp has a lot of tropical images, perfect!
Here is my take...

Yeah, I know! No pineapples!
Well, I used a pineapple last week, and look what I made with the Create an Ocean Scene Die set from YNS!

I also spotted this lovely Island Silhouette stamp :-)
I stamped it with Sahara Sand then water colored.
I die cut this ocean blue vellum with this wavy die that came with the Create an Ocean Scene Die set, sewed it down right on the island.

Well, can I tell you how much fun I had making this little ocean scene!?
I die cut every creature you see on my card, aren't they just so darn cute!?
The octopus, the turtle, the puffer, and the little fish don't just cut, but also emboss details like their little fins and faces! So fun!

The sentiment aloha is from YNS also. I mean it's perfect for this tropical island scenery, right!? I also added some star sequins on the live rocks like they're little sea stars, and a bunch of sparkling sequins as air bubbles.
I love how this turned out, and I really enjoyed making this fun card!
