Newton's Nook Designs Toucan Party Set - Naki Rager

For my little treat, I created this little milk carton with fun patterned paper and dressed it up with layers of die cuts using the NND products today ;-) I wanted to show you that you don't need a Valentine's Day stamp set to create a little Valentine treat.

Newton's Nook Designs Toucan Party Set - Naki Rager

This adorable toucan is from the Toucan Party Set, I watercolored one of the toucan images with fun, tropical colors. I also stamped and watercolored the sweet little tropical flower and one leaf and tucked them behind my sweet toucan after die cutting them using the Toucan Party Die Set. My sweet toucan is sitting on 2 big leaves that were die cut from gold vellum using the Hibiscus Die Set.

To create all the fun layers, I die cut the banner using the Frames & Flags Die Set and heat embossed the cute sentiment from the Toucan Party Stamp Set, die cut the stitched heart using the Darling Hearts Die Set, and the little tag was die cut using the Tags Times Two Die Set. The little XOXO stamp is from the new My Type Set, I simply stamped it with black ink on white cardstock and trimmed it down. I used 2 different, pretty busy patterns but because I coordinated the colors in every piece, the patterns are not fighting against each other.

Now you didn't think I just decorated this little milk carton and was done, did you!?
Before you get to enjoy some Dove chocolate (my favorite, YUM 💗), you get to pull out these little letters that were sewn together ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Toucan Party Set - Naki Rager

This super fun, pull-out-sentiment was die cut using the Essential Alphabet Die Set, and the hearts were die cut using the Darling Hearts Die Set. I originally sewed them without any backing but it wasn't easy, and it turned out not so pretty 😣 so I trimmed off about 1/4" of printer paper and sewed the letters onto it, and it worked much better!

For the finishing touch, I added a few flower sequins with seed beads inside of them, cute, right!?

DOGtor Who???

Wednesday, January 30, 2019

Hi, there!
Can you believe January is almost over!? Where does time go!?
Maybe today's card that is up on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog can tell me a bit about time...

Newton's Nook Designs Woof Pack Set - Naki Rager

Okay, some of you may be thinking, what's funny about this card?
So let me tell you how I ended up with this design first to make sense.
I decided to make a birthday card for my aunt who rescues dogs (mainly boxers) so the Woof Pack set seemed very appropriate. But if you know me, I like to accessorize the cute NND critters with stuff like little hats and glasses, which is a really easy way to jazz up your favorite NND images!

This is the 10th doctor from the BBC show Doctor Who, and my aunt and I both LOVED him! So this is why those sunglasses became 3D glasses ;-)

The image was stamped right on the basecard then colored with colored pencils. I actually stamped it on Kraft cardstock first and wasn't planning on coloring the image at all, but you know I LOVE to color 🎨 I just couldn't help myself...{LOL} Can I tell you something crazy? I use an eraser (Prismacolor Magic Rub to be exact) to blend, it works so much better than the colorless pencil! Just don't rub too hard!

Newton's Nook Designs Woof Pack Set - Naki Rager

My 3D glasses were die cut using the little sunglasses die from the Loveable Llamas Die Set, I just colored in the blue and red lenses with my chameleon markers. I also added some shimmer using the Stella Glitter Pen. Aren't these pups just adorable with their glasses on!?

Newton's Nook Designs Woof Pack Set - Naki Rager

I was going to find a couple of sentiments to create "I'm the",  then die cut "doctor" (when the doctor says this line, that usually means he's about to save everyone) so I pulled out my favorite Essential Alphabet Die Set and suddenly hit me... A bunch of dog doctors => DOGTOR!!! (I crack myself up! LOL 😆). I die cut the "sentiment" from the Tardis blue (the doctor is an alien who travels through time in his time machine named Tardis, which is this little blue police box) and added starry shimmer (Tardis can travel in the space as well so it made sense...) using the Stella Glitter Pen.

I know that not everyone appreciates this card but I had a BLAST making it for my awesome aunt! and that's what's important/fun, right!? ;-)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you liked it whether or not you're a whovian (that's what the doctor fans are called...LOL)

Newton's Nook Designs January Release Day 4

Thursday, January 17, 2019

Hello, lovelies!
Welcome to day 4 of the Newton's Nook Designs January Release!
All the new products will be available for purchase tomorrow Friday the 18th in the Newton's Nook Designs Shop
We have 2 of new mini sets to reveal today!

This one is called Candy Heart, isn't this the sweetest little stamp set ever!?

And this fun set is called My Type, I absolutely LOVE this set 💚
okay, here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Candy Heart Set - Naki Rager

I guess I felt like CAS for this release week! 😆
Super CAS that is!

Newton's Nook Designs Candy Heart Set - Naki Rager

So I had this idea to die cut a heart using the new Candy Heart Die to create a little window. Other than that, I didn't have any designs on my mind, sometimes you just have to start creating and see what comes to your mind... Well, I wanted this super CAS look and this black and white striped washi tape was all it needed!

Newton's Nook Designs Candy Heart Set - Naki Rager

The cute little piece of heart candy with the "hot stuff" message was heat embossed with rose gold EP on the inside, which peeks out of the heart window on the front panel. I borrowed the Happy Valentine's Day! sentiment from the Love Owl-Ways Set, which was revealed yesterday.

Newton's Nook Designs My Type Set - Naki Rager

The My Type Mini Set is absolutely fun and gorgeous!
I went for a super CAS look on the front by simply stamping the HELLO multiple times and XOXO in red on the bottom corner ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs My Type Set - Naki Rager

You open the card and pop! The beautiful typewriter pops up!
#1 This is my very first pop-up card and it took me WAAAAAAY too long to figure out how to make one...{LOL} Then I realized I could have watched a tutorial on YouTube when I was done...{DUH 😣}
#2 I feel so old I know what typewriter is, my kids have NO CLUE what it is! ðŸ˜±

Newton's Nook Designs My Type Set - Naki Rager

Here is the close-up. I stamped the image with black on kraft cardstock twice and colored one of them with colored pencils. When I fussy cut the colored image, I removed the paper coming out of the typewriter from it and replaced with the blue piece with this cute sentiment stamped on it. Then it was paper pieced onto the other image, which wasn't colored but die cut using the coordinating die.

Newton's Nook Designs My Type Set - Naki Rager

While keeping it CAS, I still wanted a bit of fun, so I sponged some hearts using the Tumbling Hearts Stencil and pinks and red Distress Ink. I picked specific hearts then masked the rest with the painter's tape before sponging.

Newton's Nook Designs January Release Day 3

Wednesday, January 16, 2019

Hello, lovelies!
Welcome to day 3 of the Newton's Nook Designs January Release!
All the new products will be available for purchase this Friday the 18th in the Newton's Nook Designs Shop!
We're revealing this sweet set called "Love Owl-Ways" today ;-)

Aren't these owls absolutely adorable!?
I'm loving the cute sentiments as well 💛
Okay, here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Love Owl-Ways Set - Naki Rager

My first card with the Love Owl-Ways Set is super soft and sweet ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Love Owl-Ways Set - Naki Rager

First I stamped, watercolored, and fussy cut this cute little owl with a single balloon image. And then I stamped the same image again, then a whole bunch of balloon. I watercolored all the balloons, fussy cut it, and paper pieced the owl with a single balloon image on top to just a bit of dimension.

Newton's Nook Designs Love Owl-Ways Set - Naki Rager

The stitched panel was die cut using the Frames & Flags Die Set from watercolor paper. I blended a few shades of blue Distress ink and splattered lots of water and white ink. I borrowed the little clouds from the Newton Scoots By Die Set and popped them on.

Newton's Nook Designs Love Owl-Ways Set - Naki Rager

I heat embossed this adorable sentiment with gold EP right next to my cute little owl and it's all done ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Love Owl-Ways Set - Naki Rager

My second card is also soft and sweet but it's a fun shaker ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Love Owl-Ways Set - Naki Rager

For this card, I watercolored this sweet pair, they seem like a daddy and his little girl💚
I tend to always pick soft colors but this image was colored extra light with Tattered Rose and Twisted Citron Distress Ink. Aren't they so, so, so sweet!? The cute sentiment was heat embossed with copper EP on the base card before I started to build my shaker.

Newton's Nook Designs Love Owl-Ways Set - Naki Rager

Because this cover die has this big ampersand, I decided to die cut several of them and pile them up instead of using the foam tape. The Acetate Sheet was added right before mounting the last piece.

Newton's Nook Designs Love Owl-Ways Set - Naki Rager

I filled inside the shaker with gold, silver, and rose gold hearts confetti, plus tiny clear flower sequins before popping my owl pair on top. Simple but lots of sparkles and I love how this one turned out 💚

Newton's Nook Designs January Release Day 2

Tuesday, January 15, 2019

Hello, lovelies!
Welcome to day 2 of the Newton's Nook Designs January Release!
All the new products will be available for purchase this Friday the 18th in the Newton's Nook Designs Shop!
Today we're revealing the Caffeinated Cats Set!
Let's take a look ;-)

If you're a crazy cat lady (or gentleman) who is also a caffeine addict like I am, well, this new set is a must-have for you!!! How stinkin' cute are these kitties in these mugs!?
Okay, here's what I created...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Caffeinated Cats Set - Naki Rager

Here's my first card with the new Caffeinated Cats Set, which I used the stamp as a background ;-)
These big "Full Card Front" stamps can be either background or focal point of your cards!

Newton's Nook Designs Caffeinated Cats Set - Naki Rager

After stamping the image with alcohol based ink on watercolor paper, I colored it with real tea!
I just thought, why not!? But who knew it was going to take so many layers when you spill tea on your clothes and it stains!? LOL

Newton's Nook Designs Caffeinated Cats Set - Naki Rager

I made a "tea bag" with vellum, heat embossed the sentiment, and before sealing the bag, I added bead seeds in many colors. (Can I call this a "shaker"!?) I popped this one kitty that was watercolored with foam tape to add a bit of color ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Caffeinated Cats Set - Naki Rager

The whole panel was die cut using the Framework Die Set and mounted on dark brown cardstock, which matched the sentiment ;-)
It looks like a lot of work to create this card but it is actually quite easy and simple ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Caffeinated Cats Set - Naki Rager

My second card has nothing but colors!
The design is, well, not much design going on {LOL}
I simply enjoyed watercoloring this adorable image and that became the focal point of this card, naturally ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Caffeinated Cats Set - Naki Rager

I didn't want to hide any part of the image so I used vellum to heat emboss the sentiment, which was die cut using the Framework Die Set (I just cannot stay away from this die set!).
