Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 312

Sunday, May 31, 2015

Hi there, happy Sunday!

Today's post is very exciting for me...
I was invited to be a surprise sweetie over at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!
You know how much I love their challenge, so you can imagine how excited I was when I received the invitation! *BIG SMILE*

Here is this week's inspiration...

I got even more excited when I saw this photo, look at the colors!
And here is my take...

Metallic colors, tuxedo, cakes... It was screaming a fun party!
I especially liked the feathers on some of the cupcakes so that became my focal point of this card. I only used a little bit of black because I thought too much black might make this card look too heavy.

Metallic sequins, multifaceted button, gold feathers, gold thread... as you can see, I went very shiny on this card. Naturally, I couldn't have left the sentiment without some sparkles, so my handy dandy helper glitter pen was brushed over it. I used the Alphabet Rotary Stamp to make that faux label.

This was a very exciting opportunity, and I love the colors for this challenge, I truly had a lot of fun making this card:-) I am so happy that they invited me to join them this week, thank you sweeties!

My notes...

Stamp: Four Feathers, Alphabet Rotary Stamp
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Vellum, Gold Soiree SDSP, Stack with Love DSP Stack
Ink: Versamark
Accessory: Vintage Faceted Buttons, Gold Baker's Twin, Gold Thread, Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh)
Tool: Heat Tool, White Stampin' Emboss Powder, Feathers Framelits Dies, The Big, The Bold and Party Cutaways (Winnie & Walter), Wink of Stella Glitter Pen

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge 230

Saturday, May 30, 2015

Hi! Happy Saturday!
I am playing along with My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge today!

Fun, isn't it!?
I love their design team, they always make such fabulous cards, and they definitely motivate me to play!
Here is what I came up with...

Inspirations are anywhere, and everywhere!
My twin boy was wearing this navy blue romper (I LOVE rompers on babies!) that has a bunch of anchors on it, and that inspired me to make a nautical card :-)

My husband is passionate about marine life, he actually wanted to be a marine biologist when he was young. And his favorite sea creature is octopi, I got the Sea Street set because of this cute little octopus:-)

I stamped him with Coastal Cabana then stamped again with versamark on top, then heat embossed with clear emboss powder. Then the fun part, fussy cutting him! I admit, it is not the best cutting job, but those tentacles got in my way and it was so hard!
His tiny eyes kind of disappeared after heat embossing so I used the Owl Builder Punch and the 1/8" circle punch to make him a new pair ;-)

I absolutely loved that fish image on the DSP so I carefully positioned everything in the right place and left his face peeking out:-)
I even used vellum for the banner, and picked Whisper White for the sentiment so it wouldn't disturb the design.
I am going to stamp "Happy father's Day" on the inside and give to my lovely husband. I hope he will love it enough that he'll take it to his office to show off! ;-)

My notes...

Stamp: Sea Street
Paper: Whisper Whited, Crumb Cake, Basic Black (eyes), Vellum, Maritime DSP
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Versamark
Tool: Heat Tool, Ranger Frosted Crystal Emboss Powder, Die-namics Stitched Rectangle STAX (My Favorite Things), Ornate Tag Topper Punch, Owl Builder Punch, 1/8" Circle Punch, Stars Framelits Die, You're Amazing Die (Simon Says Stamp), Stick It Adhesive Sheet, Stampin' Dimensionals

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
And do not forget to come back tomorrow, I have a VERY exciting post for you...!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 311

Friday, May 29, 2015

Hi there, Happy Friday!
Here I am playing along with Cupcake Inspirations Challenge again!
This week's inspiration is so fun!

So stinkin' cute!
And here is my card...

I had really, really wanted to play with that flower stamp/die sets from Waffle Flower, and I finally had the chance! I inked up the stamp then spritzed some water to give a quick watercolor look. Then I added some water downed Daffodil Delight Ink with a paint brush.

Look at these gorgeous gerber daisies my husband gave me! The orange is just so beautiful! So this was my inspiration for my orange flower on this card:-) And look, this potted daisies even had that little bee in it!

I almost didn't play this challenge because I didn't want a butterfly, and I do not have any bug stamps. But my oldest son came home with this adorable bee that he made at pre-school, and gave me an idea to make a bee with punches and dies:-)

The head is 1/2" circle punch, and the body was made with the Small Oval punch but I adhered 1/4" Basic Black stripes on a small piece of the Daffodil Delight cardstock before punching it out. The vellum wings were die cut with the small leaf from the Flower Fair Framelits die set, then I brushed my go-to-blinger Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

When I decided on the bee, I came up with the sentiment "Bee YOU tiful" hee hee
I wanted to add some honeycombs but I had a hard time figuring out how. After trying several different options, I settled with this random pattern, of course some glitter was added ;-)

My notes...

Stamp: Alphabet Rotary Stamp, A Bunch (Waffle Flower)
Paper: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Vellum, Watercolor Paper, Gold Glimmer Paper
Ink: Soft Sky and Daffodil Delight Reinkers (Brushed background), Tangelo Tango, Gumball Green, Versmark
Accessory: Gold Thread, Flower Sequins (Paper Sweeties)
Tool: Heat Tool, White Stampin' Emboss Powder, Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, 1/2" Circle Punch, Small Oval Punch, Flower Fair Framelits Die, A bunch Die (Waffle Flower), You Rock Designer Die (Essentials by Ellen)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Celebrate with Flamingos

Monday, May 25, 2015

Hello everyone!
Happy Memorial Day!
I would like to take a minute to salute to those who have fought for this country, and their families. Their bravery and courage will never be forgotten.....

Now back to the card making world...;-)

I got this cute flamingo set from Newton's Nook a couple weeks ago, and had been dying to play with it!
I've noticed that flamingos are on trend now... I was clothe shopping for my kids and there are a lot of flamingos for girls, so cute!

I heat embossed this flamingo couple with Calypso Coral emboss powder on the Blushing Bride cardstock, don't they look so lovely!? I decided to die cut with a heart, then I wanted to make my very first shaker card with the Fuse Tool.
I inserted the flamingos and some sequins in a binder pocket, and went around the heart with the fuse tool. It was my first time using it and had to practice a bit, but it was so much fun!

The confetti and the sentiment are both from Winnie & Walter.
The flamingo couple looks so happy and in love, I wanted to celebrate love :-)
I've been thinking about sending cards to my husband at work, that would surprise him a lot! So this card might be the first love card to him...;-)

My notes...

Stamp: Flirty Flamingos (Newton's Nook)
Paper: Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Pistachio Pudding, Gold Foil Sheet, Gold Soiree Specialty DSP
Ink: Versamark
Accessory: Pretty Pink Posh Sequins
Tool: Fuse Tool (We R Memory Keepers), Heat Tool, Calypso Coral Stampin' Emboss Powder, Hearts Collection Framelits Die, The Big, The Bold and Party Cutaways (Winnie & Walter), The Party Confetti Cutaways (Winnie & Walter), Wink of Stella Glitter Pen

AEI{heart}U Challenge

Thursday, May 21, 2015

Hello there!
I am playing along with AEI{heart}U #24 Spring over at Avery Elle Blog!

Challenge 24

Here is my spring card using the Avery Elle Products...

I apologize for the poor quality pictures...
I heat embossed the sentiment from the Oh Happy Day set with this very soft gold emboss powder, well, the gold is really subtle, and the sentiment is skinny so it was very hard to photograph it...

*~Update~*
It is such a sunny day here today, I decided to re-take my pictures outside:-)

I hope you can see it, because the font is just beautiful (that was the reason I bought this set!), and the gold is so pretty!
I watercolored the whole watercolor paper with the Soft Sky Reinker. When it dried, it looked more like Pool Party so I used the Pool Party Cardstock for the base.

I taped some washi tape at 1/4" and applied veasamark ink directly on the cardstock, then heat embossed the same gold powder to match the sentiment. The green comes through so this is not the true color of this gold but look how sparkly it is!

These lovely leaves are from the Look Up set, stamped on Pear Pizzazz with the Gumball Green ink, then cut out with my trusty paper snips. Nothing says spring more than fresh green leaves, ~oh happy day~

My notes...

Stamp: Look Up, Oh Happy Day (both Avery Elle)
Paper: Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, Watercolor Paper
Ink: Soft Sky, Gumball Green, Vearmark
Tool: Heat Tool, Ranger Enchanted Gold Emboss Powder, Scallop Border Punch, Paint Brush

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 310

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

Hello, hello!
You know I have to play along with Cupcake Inspirations Challenge... This week is color challenge, and this combo is so very pretty!!

Pretty, right!?
That cupcake liner reminded me of one of the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Pack. So that was the first thing I grabbed.

This is my first time using the Vellum Pack since I got it in March. I know, I'm always behind...Ha Ha
I put the liquid glue behind some of the images so it won't come through. I love vellum but sometimes you have to be creative to hide adhesive and not always easy...don't you agree!?

I placed the back of the vellum up because the images looked softer.
My little butterfly was punched out first then watercolored with the Soft Sky and So Saffron Reinkers. I don't think you can see it but I added some glitter on the edge of the wings with my glitter pen. Of course I had to do the same on my layered sentiment as well, it just looks dull without it now!

I tried several different flowers before I made this one. I didn't really want a 3D because it doesn't fit in a regular envelope, but this one looked just right with my pretty leaves. I went over the edges of the petals with the glitter pen, why not!?

This card turned out to be way better that I pictured in my head, I love when that happens! Of course the total opposite happens too and when it does, I just walk away from that card...Ha Ha :-D

My notes...

Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Gray, Lucky Limeade (Retired), Soft Sky, Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Pack, Watercolor Paper
Ink: Soft Sky and So Saffron Reinkers
Accessory: Pearl Basic Jewels, Venetian Crochet Trim
Tool: Butterfly Punch, With Love Die (Waffle Flowers), Bold Blossom Stand Alone Designer Die (Essentials by Ellen), Die-namics Stitched Rectangles and Rolled Scalloped Rose (My Favorite Things)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Mix It Up Challenge

Saturday, May 16, 2015

Hi there!
Today I have this card I made for the Mix It Up Challenge over at Ellen Hutson. They pick one of the manufactures on their site, and you make a project with the product(s) of that chosen company along with the Essentials by Ellen line. And the latest challenge is to use Avery Elle! Woo hoo! She is one of my favorites!

I always thought that Pistachio Pudding and Pool Party are pretty similar, but when I stamped them on the Whisper White base, they were exactly the same! Now how is that possible!? I wanted ombre stripes, so to fix the problem, I stamped Bermuda Bay over the Pistachio Pudding stripes (bottom 2 lines), then stamped Pool Party over Pool Party, and the top 2 lines were stamped lightly on my grid paper first then on the base card.

I stamped the sentiments from the Hello Gorgeous set from Essentials by Ellen with White Vearsamark, then heat embossed with the Ranger Frosted Crystal emboss powder thinking it was white, well, it's crystal clear...lol Good thing I used the white ink! I kind of liked the washed out white so I kept it!

I absolutely love the You Rock Die set!
I actually don't wear a lot of jewelry, especially big pieces. I'm afraid to lose them...Ha Ha But that big rock sure is fabulous!

My notes...

Stamp: Hello Gorgeous (Essentials by Ellen), Brushed (Avery Elle)
Paper: Whisper White, Vellum, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, White Vesamark
Accessory: Rhinestones Basic Jewels, Teal Glittered Gumdrops (Your Next Stamp)
Tool: Heat Tool, Ranger Frosted Crystal Emboss Powder, You Rock Designer Die (Essentials by Ellen)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed i!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 309

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

Hi there!
Hope you all had nice mother's day!
I am once again playing my favorite, Cupcake Inspirations Challenge

Such a fun theme!
And here is my card...

What immediately came to my mind when I saw the theme was "girl talk". What girls don't talk away all night when they get together, right!?
The idea of this card isn't new, I'm sure we've all seen this design here and there, but have you seen a super girly one in pink and gold!? ;-)

Another thing about girls night out is a lot of bling!
"Bling it on!" how cute is that!!?

I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out, but I'm pretty happy with it ;-)
Hope you like it too!

My notes...

Stamp: Just Sayin", Hello Gorgeous (Essentials by Ellen)
Paper: Basic Black, Blushing Bride, Gold Foil Sheet, Vellum

W&W with Pinkfresh Studio Challenge again!

Friday, May 8, 2015

Hi there! Welcome back!
I am trying to play as many challenges as I can before this Saturday over at Winnie & Walter! Their fun celebration of {inter} national scrapbook day with Pinkfresh Studio has several different challenges, and today I am playing along with the color challenge!

iNSD 2015 Color Challenge

What a fun color combo! Now you get why I had to play this one, right!?
Unfortunately I do not have any neon colors, so I used Strawberry Slush with Coastal Cabana. My favorite colors!

Here's something crazy... Those scribble dies are from My Favorite Things, and apparently they're the hottest thing on earth right now (okay, not quite...) I subscribed to get a notification when they were back in stock twice because after receiving the first notice, I didn't order right away and they were out the next day! And when I received my second notice, I dropped what I was doing and got online, but as I was checking out, they ran out! Isn't it insane! So I googled it, found this website, I quickly placed my order with them... Gee, what we do for our passion...

But won't you agree that it was worth all that hassle to get them!?
I left those little pieces inside so they look more like flowers than scribbles (they are called scribble flowers though).

I wanted the colors to be the star of this card so I kept it very simple, but a pinch of gold confetti would never hurt, right!?

My notes...

Stamp: The Big, The Bold and Extras (Winnie & Walter)
Paper: Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, Gold Foil Sheet, vellum
Ink: Versamark
Accessory: Gold Circle Confetti, Teal Glittery Gumdrop (Your Next Stamp)
Tool: Heat Tool, Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder, Die-namics Scribbles (My Favorite Things)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
I am hoping to play one more challenge but I have a busy day tomorrow, so will see...

Winnie & Walter with Pinkfresh Studio Sketch Challenge

Thursday, May 7, 2015

Hi there!
As I mentioned on yesterday's post, I am sharing another card for the fun challenges over at Winnie & Walter! They're celebrating {inter} national scrapbook day with Pinkfresh Studio, and I am playing along with as many as I can before the deadline!

iNSD 2015 Card Sketch Challenge

Isn't this a fun sketch!?
Here is what I came up with...

It is obvious that I love paper craft and enjoy it very much, but it was REALLY fun making this card! I wanted bright colors to go with this fun sketch so I picked Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, and Gumball Green. Yes, I am very much obsessed with Gumball Green, it is very hard for me to stay away from it.....

I wanted to repeat the fun, bright colors in the sentiment, so I did!
Of course I had to add some sparkle so I used the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen, it adds the right amount of shimmer!

To show you how I made the sentiment (not that it is complicated and you couldn't have figured it out just by looking at it...lol), I used the 1-1/4" Square Punch to get those little squares in the 3 colors. Then I cut a 3-3/4" (well, almost... it was the end of it so I just left that tiny extra) by 1-1/4" strip of Stick It Sheet (awesome for sentiment dies!). Then I die cut the strip and popped it out of the die. I die cut 3 more with some scraps and layered them all, to keep the 3 colored pieces together, and give some depth.

Can I tell you I am very happy with how this card turned out!?
I think it is such a fun card, and it cheers me up!
And not only it was fun to make, it was also pretty simple to make, just a lot of die cutting and gluing!

My notes...

Paper: Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, Gumball Green, Gold Glimmer Paper
Tool: Stars Framelits Die, Chevron Stripes Die-namics (My Favorite Things),
In a Word: Cheers Cutaway (Winnie & Walter), Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Wink of Stella Glitter Pen

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Now I am off to make another card for their challenge (I'm thinking either the color or make-your-own-background challenge...) so stay tuned!
