Happy New Year!

Saturday, December 31, 2016

Hi there lovelies!
Can you believe today is the last day of the year 2016!!?
It was such a fun year being on the Newton's Nook Design DT, and I get to start the new year as one of the DT member again! So exciting!

New year's day is the biggest celebration in Japan, and it is so very totally different from how it is celebrated here. I left Japan after graduating from high school and wow! that was 20 years ago now!!! So to me now, new year is watching Times Square on TV, and that is exactly what I have made here!

I used the building images from the Newton Dreams of New York set!
They were heat embossed with clear emboss powder on gray cardstock then die cut with the Newton Dreams of New York Purr-fect die set.

I love fireworks, so that was my first inspiration for this card.
The night sky was created with blue, green, yellow and black Distressed Ink. Of course I had to splatter some water. I also sprayed some white and gold ink all over the panel. It was quite messy bit so fun!
I wasn't sure how to draw fireworks, but I googled some images and there they are! The big, colorful one was drawn with my Kuretake Gansai Watercolor set that I received from my bestie in Japan (who has been my bestie since we were 16! Wow!), and zig Clean Color Brush set. What do you think?

I hope you all have a beautiful year filled with fun, laughter, some tears, and lots and lots of ink on your hands! To help you with that, Newton's Nook Designs is having a New Year Sale for 3 days starting today! Woo Hoo! So make sure you head over to the Shop!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Happy New Year lovelies!!!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 388

Sunday, December 11, 2016

Hello lovelies, Happy Sunday!
Welcome to the final Cupcake Inspirations Challenge of the year!
Can you believe that 2016 is almost over!!?
We will be taking a 2 week break, so you have 3 long weeks to create and link up your beautiful projects!
This week's sponsor is Craft Classes Online!

Fabulous job Nina, for picking such a gorgeous color combo!
Not to mention such a beautiful cupcake!
Here is my take...;-)

I love how the cupcake has a ton of cream frosting with little gold and poppy, so I was very  much inspired by that!

I started with die cutting this gorgeous greenery cutaway from Winnie & Walter, one from Very Vanilla with the solid base die, another from gold foil sheet with the outline die. I then die cut this fun, bold noel sentiment from red foil sheet once, and from Very Vanilla 6 times!

I smeared the gold ink pad onto a piece of window sheet then sprayed some rubbing alcohol on it, then used a paint brush to make all those splatters. I adhered the white and red diagonal Striped washi tape on the right side of my base, mounted my main panel and assembled the rest. I was going to add a few gold star confetti but instead, I added some red and clear flowers right onto my wreath, isn't it pretty!?

{ my notes }

Paper: Very Vanilla, Red and Gold Foil Sheets (SU!)
Ink: Encore Gold Ink, Rubbing Alcohol
Accessory: Sweetheart Mix Flower Sequins (Paper Sweeties), Red and White Striped Washi Tape (3M)
Tool: In a Word:Noel and In Bloom:Paulina's Greenery Cutaways (Winnie & Walter)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
We will be back in 3 week, have a lovely holiday everyone! ;-)

Today all of the fabulous guest designers and the DT members are hopping with beautiful holiday projects that are showcasing the NND prosucts!

Alright, here goes mine! ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Fox Hollow Set - Naki Rager

I decided to make a Christmas card with soft, pastel colors ;-)
Don't my pink trees look pretty with the falling snow background that I heat embossed in silver and Pool Party!?

Newton's Nook Designs Fox Hollow Set - Naki Rager

I am absolutely in love with this whimsical, adorable tree image from the Fox Hollow Set!
I started with heat embossing the image in white then water color them with Crisp Cantaloupe and Smoky Slate for the trunk. Then they were all die cut with the coordinating die, Fox Hollow Purr-fect Die Set!

Newton's Nook Designs Fox Hollow Set - Naki Rager

I borrowed this lovely sentiment from the Serene Silhouette Set.
It was heat embossed in silver on vellum and die cut. I also die cut another tag then fed several snippets of silver thread to keep them together.

So why pink, you ask?
I got these lovely pink trees last year planning on making my own snow globe, well it was finally made a year later! Woo Hoo! {giggle}
I love how this turned out and was totally inspired by it!

Happy Sunday my crafty friends!
It's time for another Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!
This week's sponsor is Louby Lou!

What a fun and festive theme!
Here is my take...;-)

Who doesn't love a pretty snowglobe!?
Isn't this just so much fun!?

The sponsor provided us this gorgeous snowglobe image, thank you!
I printed the image 2 times, one for the inside of my shaker, the other one to paper piece the bow and the base of the globe. I decided to use my favorite color mint, and this Vintage Chic Shaker Mix was just perfect! I also added the snowflake confetti and silver sequin mix.

I die cut the sentiment from silver foil to match the silver sequins.
For the finishing touch, I added a little silver bell with a snippet of mint baker's twine!

Inky Paws Challenge 38

Friday, December 2, 2016

Hi there, happy Friday!
The new Inky Paws Challenge is starting today over at the Newton's Nook Designs Blog, and of course I had to play along!

We have a color challenge for you this month!
Look at this fun, festive, and pretty color combo!
Here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Joyful Tags Set - Naki Rager

I am absolutely, definitely obsessed with the Pines & Holly Purr-fect Die Set! {LOL}
I water colored with Gumball Green and Bermuda Bay on watercolor paper, then die cut a whole bunch of pine branches to make this big wreath! I also die cut a ring using 2 circle dies so I could adhere my branches in a perfect circle on it!

Newton's Nook Designs Joyful Tags Set - Naki Rager

Then I thought, why not a shaker!?
I sewed the plastic bag that stamps and dies come in, onto another ring, trimmed off the excess, added the sequins inside the bag, sealed it with more stitches, then glued the wreath on top.
I knew I wanted a bow on the wreath, then I thought to add one of the pretty tags from the new Joyful Tags set. I heat embossed this beauty in white on Bermuda Bay, punched out the red foil bow, and popped them onto my wreath!

Newton's Nook Designs Joyful Tags Set - Naki Rager

Here is a close up of the branches. If you look at them carefully, some of them have more Gumball Green, some have a mixture of both, and some have more Bermuda Bay. I think they turned out so very pretty!
Instead of mounting my pretty wreath on a plain white, I used this patterned paper that has shiny white stripes on white, I think diagonal stripes are so Christmasy!

{my notes}

Stamp: Joyful Tags (Newton's Nook Designs)
Paper: Bright White 100 lb (Neenah), Bermuda Bay, Red Foil Sheet, DSP (SU!), Watercolor Paper
Ink: Gumball Green, Bermuda Bay Reinker (SU!), Versamark

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 386

Sunday, November 27, 2016

Hello lovelies!
It is time for another Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!
This week's sponsor is Kitty Bee Designs!
They have so many adorable images, make sure you visit them!

I LOVE this color combo!
It's so fresh and pretty!
Here is my take...;-)

Isn't this simply the sweetest!?

The sponsor provided us 2 cute images to work with this week, thank you so much!
I was going to make 2 cards with both images but I didn't have time! Ugh!
I printed this cutie on white cardstock, colored in with Spectrum Noir Markers, die cut it circle, then layered this pretty mint scallop. The moon was colored with light gray, and darker gray for some shadowing, then went over it with mint. I LOVE how it turned out!

I wanted "sweet" and "heart" sentiment dies but I just couldn't figure out a good placement, so I used a heart shape instead. This patterned paper has mint stars and little gray stars, just perfect!

{my notes}

Stamp: Owls (Kitty Bee Designs)
Paper: Smoky Slate, Mint Macaron, Fancy Foil Patterned Vellum (SU!), Crate Paper Little You, Wonder Patterned Paper Pads, White (Neenah)
Ink: Spectrum Noir Markers
Accessory: Mini Silver Star Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh), Silver Thread, Tan Star Button (My Stash)
Tool: Sweetheart Punch (SU!), Scallop Circle Die (Pretty Pink Posh), Die-namics Circle STAX (My Favorite Things), Lovey Words Confetti Cut (Reverse Confetti)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 24, 2016

Hello lovelies!
Today I am playing along with 2 of my favorite challenges!
I know, I don't play challenges anymore, but these 2 inspired me!

This beautiful inspirational board is from the Pin-Sights Challenge over at Ellen Hutson.
I am in LOVE with all these gorgeous fall colors! But my favorite is the pumpkins!

And then here is the Mixed Media Card Challenge with a Thanksgiving theme!

Here is what I came up with...;-)

I really love the green and orange on those pumpkins in the Pin-Sights Photo, so that is exactly what I made;-)
I die cut 4 Thanks sentiments from white and adhered them on white panel. I then applied some embossing paste over the Stencil.

I started with water coloring orange and green on a piece of watercolor paper, die cut these gorgeous gourds from the orange and green. Then I removed those little pieces inside of them and placed the green pieces in the orange gourds just like the photo!
"Happy Thanksgiving" was heat embossed with copper, cut into 3 pieces randomly, then popped on over my beautiful pumpkin.

To repeat the gorgeous warm copper, I added a little snippet of copper thread and several copper sequins. I just love how this card turned out!

{my notes}

Stamp: Alphabet (SU!)
Paper: Bright White (Neenah), Watercolor Paper
Ink: Gumball Green, Tangelo Twist Reinkers (SU!), Versamark
Accessory: Metallic Copper Thread, Washi Tape (SU!), 4mm Copper Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh)
Tool: Thanks Die (STAMPlorations), Gourd-jus Die (Ellen Hutson), Embossing Paste (Ranger), Splatter Stencil (Tim Holtz), Heat Tool, Copper Emboss Powder (SU!)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
If you're in the US, Happy Thanksgiving!

Newton's Nook Designs November Release Day 3 - Serene Silhouette Set + Coordinating Die Set

Wednesday, November 23, 2016

Hi there!
Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs November Release!
All the new goodies will be available for purchase this Friday the 25 over at the Newton's Nook Designs Shop along with their big, Black Friday Sale!
Today is day 3 of the reveal, and we are sharing the Serene Silhouette set!

SO.PRETTY.!!!!!
Need I say more...!? ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Serene Silhouette Set - Naki Rager

This card ended up being very different from my original design in my head...*LOL*
As I worked on this, my design kept changing and it looks like someone else made this card! *Hahaha*

Newton's Nook Designs Serene Silhouette Set - Naki Rager

The first thing I did was heat emboss these beautiful birches with white on gray.
They were die cut using the coordinating die set (love it!). I wanted to have one of the critters peeking out, and this deer was just perfect! He was heat embossed with clear on gray, die cut, then placed behind popped up birch. I applied some Perfect Pearl with a Q-tip to make his breath coming out of him.

Newton's Nook Designs Serene Silhouette Set - Naki Rager

Sparkly snow, sparkly sequins as falling snow, and I was done, but it was too monochromatic and boring so the little red bird decided to fly over.

Newton's Nook Designs Serene Silhouette Set - Naki Rager

I made another card ;-)
This one is located in the ice cold Arctic!

Newton's Nook Designs Serene Silhouette Set - Naki Rager

Here is a polar bear couple walking on snow, which was made with this fun, snow maker marker! All you need to do is apply the marker on your cardstock and heat it with your heat tool!
The bears were also heat embossed with clear. I accidentally got some white powder on them, but I liked them like this, it looks like they're being snowed on!

Newton's Nook Designs Serene Silhouette Set - Naki Rager

I water colored this panel trying to make a night sky (so why did I use purple and green!? I honestly don't know...lol), but it turned out looking more like aurora borealis and I LOVE it! I splattered silver ink with a paint brush all over, then also stamped a little snowflake with silver ink. The sentiment "Winter Friends Last Forever" was heat embossed with silver, and glittery silver washi tape was added on the top of the card.

Would you like to win the “Serene Silhouette” Stamp Set?
