Newton's Nook Designs

Hi, there!
Can you believe today is the last day of February!?
I feel like I just said the same thing about January {LOL}
Anyway, I'm up on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog today, ready!?

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Costume Party Set - Naki Rager

I don't know what's gotten into me lately but I keep grabbing these non-seasonal stamp sets to make non-holiday cards! For today's card, I played with the Newton's Costume Party set to make this fun CAS design ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Costume Party Set - Naki Rager

I originally stamped my kitty's unicorn wig right on his head by masking, but thought paper piecing was so much better and I was right! I colored the wig with rainbow colors and sparkly white. The horn was colored with the same sparkly white and champaign. I colored my kitty light gray so that his fabulous wig would stand out!

I borrowed this sentiment from the Believe in Unicorn Set and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. It's just so perfect for this card, it's scary! {LOL}
To make it even more perfect, I used the Starfield Stencil with Nuvo Glimmer Paste to add more sparkles, I absolutely love it!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Have a lovely day!

Winnie & Walter 4th Birthday Bash Challenge

Wednesday, February 21, 2018

Hi, there lovelies!
I am back with another project I made to enter the Anything But a Card Challenge with Kate over at the Winnie & Walter Blog! They're celebrating their 4th birthday and have all these fun challenges, you should check them out!

I made a tag with the Essentials: Carly Cutaway and the Wish Big with Evelin T Designs Stamp Set.

This big cupcake is so yummy and pretty, isn't it!?
I stamped with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink on watercolor paper and colored only the frosting part then fussy cut it. I then stamped the cupcake again on kraft cardstock with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and added some shadows on the cupcake liner with colored pencils then fussy cut it. The Kraft cupcake liner was placed over the watercolor piece, and I sprinkled several Mini Sparkling Clear Flower Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

This beautiful sentiment was heat embossed with gold embossing powder on vellum, which was die cut with the Essentials: Carly Cutaway. The sentiment is actually straight, I just placed it on my block bent to get this curved look ;-) That teeny tiny heart was die cut with the Essentials: Audrey Cutaways and a little sparkle was added with the WInk of Stella Clear Glitter Pen.

Because I used Kraft cardstock for my liner, I wanted to keep that organic feel throughout my tag, so I chose this cream cardstock for the tag. It looked pretty blah, so I added this maccha green {YUM!} and I think it looks absolutely yummy with the pink and cream! I die cut these delicate leaves from the In Bloom: Paulina's Greenery Cutaways and adhered them alongside the circle line. I also tucked this skinny heart in the same green behind the gold thread along with this adorable teeny tag from the Essentials: Audrey Cutaways. The little YAY sentiment is from the Wish Big with Evelin T Designs Stamp Set, which was heat embossed with rose gold embossing powder.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
I'm going to make a couple more projects so stay tuned!

Winnie & Walter 4th Birthday Bash Challenge

Sunday, February 18, 2018

Hello, Lovelies!
Today I am playing along with one of the fun challenges over at the Winnie & Walter Blog! They're celebrating their 4th birthday this month, and my hubby asked me for a sympathy card so I thought, hey! an excuse to play! {LOL}

Winnie & Walter Anna's Flora Set - Naki Rager

You obviously don't want bright colors or tons of sparkly embellishments on a sympathy card, but it also doesn't need to be boring either. I chose the In Bloom: Anna's Flora stamp set, the flowers in this set are just gorgeous, and tasteful for sympathy cards ;-)

Winnie & Walter Anna's Flora Set - Naki Rager

White chrysanthemums are usually the flower used at funerals in Japan, so it looked appropriate for this occasion (at least to me...). I actually googled them to see the different colors, and this beautiful hot pink stole my heart 💗 The tips of petals had some yellow-green, which is absolutely gorgeous! So I had to color mine that way 💚 The white one was stamped and colored with Antique Linen Distressed Ink, and the pink one was stamped with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and colored with a few shades of pinks.

Winnie & Walter Anna's Flora Set - Naki Rager

Everybody needs hugs when they're sad, and this sentiment die from The Big, The Bold, and Friends Cutaways was just perfect! My obsession with the sentiment dies started with The Big, The Bold collection, the font is just gorgeous 💗 Of course, I LOVE the In a Word collection also, I own most of them {LOL} Anyway, this one was die cut from watercolor paper, mint and hot pink cardstock then all were mounted on top of each other. I did some ombre watercolor on the watercolor paper piece to match the tip of the flower petals. Instead of just a plain base, I die cut the Cover Model: The Leaf Effect Cutaway from Linen Cardstock, isn't it just beautiful!!?

What I love about this design is that it doesn't have to be a sympathy card! Keep the sentiment for another occasion, or change it to something else ;-) Or you can even use a different flower from the same stamp set!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Newton's Nook Designs Surprise Birthday Blog Hop

Saturday, February 17, 2018

Hi, there lovelies!
Today is a super special day, we're so glad you're joining us!

All of the Newton's Nook Designs DT members have gotten together to throw a Surprise Birthday Blog Hop for Jennifer, the owner, illustrator, and all around wonderful person behind Newton's Nook!
We are so honored to get to work with Jennifer, and we all just love her so much and wanted everyone to celebrate your birthday with you! We hope you have the happiest birthday ever!

All of us made a card for Jen and of course, we all sent them to her from all over the world! {If mine doesn't get to you today, I am so sorry, Jen!!!}
Here goes my card ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Aloha Newton Set - Naki Rager

So I live in Western NY and this winter has been pretty cold (we get random 50-degree weather here and there though), and I'm assuming that Wisconsin has very similar weather. I thought a happy birthday song from the beach might give Jen (and Jeff) a nice break from the cold weather!

Newton's Nook Designs Aloha Newton Set - Naki Rager

Oh, my goodness, isn't she just adorable!?
Sunset on the beach, playing the ukulele, don't you wish you were there with her!?
I stamped this cutie from the Aloha Newton Set with Antique Linen Distress Ink on watercolor paper and did some no-line watercoloring. I even gave her little lashes ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Aloha Newton Set - Naki Rager

I borrowed the music notes image from the Llama Delivery Set, and the sentiments from the Cocktail Mixer Set. I stamped them with Encore Gold Ink, and heat embossed the music notes with iridescent embossing powder to give extra sparkle ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Aloha Newton Set - Naki Rager

The whole background was sponged with Distress Oxide Ink, the sky is Abandoned Coral and Worn Lipstick, the sand is Antique Linen, and the ocean is Cracked Pistachio. I used the Waves Stencil and Nuvo Glimmer Paste to create these sparkling waves. I had some paste left on my painting knife so scooped that up with my finger and rubbed it onto the pink sky, why waste such pretty thing!? ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs February Release Day 4 - Woof Pack

Thursday, February 15, 2018

Hello, lovelies!
It is already the last day of the Newton's Nook Designs February Release today!
All the new products will be available tomorrow Friday the 16th in the Newton's Nook Designs Shop! We're revealing this adorable set, Woof Pack!

Did we save the best for the last as always!? We sure did ;-)
Look at all these different breeds of pups!!!
Here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Woof Pack Set - Naki Rager

I guess a lot of love was in the air when I was working on this card {LOL}
My original design was to stamp the image on a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" acetate sheet and attach that as the cover, but I haven't had much luck with stamping on acetate (always smear it!), I settled with a window ;-) It was die cut out with the big heart from the Darling Hearts Die Set (if you don't own one, you really need to get on! I use it all the time!).

Newton's Nook Designs Woof Pack Set - Naki Rager

I heat embossed this pack of pups with Tan embossing powder on watercolor paper and watercolored them. Again, I couldn't help myself but to favor one...the poodle! Funny, because poodles aren't my favorite breed (I absolutely adore Shiba and Husky 💗) but Jen's poodle totally stole my heart 💗 I even colored her pink {EEEK!}

Newton's Nook Designs Woof Pack Set - Naki Rager

These guys took me even longer to color than the Company of Cats Set! I realized most dogs are brown, but I didn't want the same exact shade so I mixed colors. When I was done with all the pups, I colored the background light blue because blue really compliments brown!

Newton's Nook Designs Woof Pack Set - Naki Rager

I LOVE this sentiment!
It is absolutely true, and just so cute 💗

Newton's Nook Designs Woof Pack Set - Naki Rager

My second card with the Woof Pack Set (I am so loving this name!) is very different from my usual style! Where are colors!? {LOL} The look I tried to accomplish here is a vintage, sepia photo from the old west! I know, my poodle still had to be pink! I couldn't help it!!!

Newton's Nook Designs Woof Pack Set - Naki Rager

Believe it or not, this sentiment was my inspiration for this design ;-)
"Ruff" life made me think of the old west...I honestly don't know why...{LOL}
The sentiment was heat embossed with dark brown embossing powder on this already die-cut tag with the Tags Times Two Die Set, but I trimmed about 1/8" on each side and cut the corners so I'd have this skinny tag.

Newton's Nook Designs Woof Pack Set - Naki Rager

My pups were stamped with Vintage Photo Distress Ink (perfect, right!?) and colored in with colored pencils. It was meant to be "quick coloring" but you and I both know that there is no such thing as "quick coloring" with me {LOL} I'm really loving the Basset hound on this one 💛 When I was finally done, I tore the cardstock around the image, distressed the patterned paper a little bit and mounted them on the base, then added burlap twine and the tag. I picked up the dusty blue and orange from the patterned paper and added enamel dots in the same colors. It still needed wee more colors and this washi tape was just perfect ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs February Release Day 3 - Company of Cats Set

Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Hi, my lovelies!
Happy Valentine's Day💗
My twins have some fun celebration at pre-school today but they're been so sick, I don't know if I should take them...but don't want them to miss the fun! Grr!
Anyway, the fun Newton's Nook Designs February Release continues and we're revealing the Company of Cats Set today! It will be available for purchase this Friday the 16th in the Newton's Nook Designs Shop along with the other new products!

I know! I know!!
Can you even handle this much cuteness!!?
If you love the Frozen Fellowship Set, well, you just HAVE TO get this one too!
Okay, here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Company of Cats Set - Naki Rager

They look even cuter when they're all colored in, don't they!?
As a crazy cat lady myself, this was just too much fun to color 💗 {LOL}
Did you notice the sentiment on the top? SO CUTE! and SOOOO TRUE!

Newton's Nook Designs Company of Cats Set - Naki Rager

I know I shouldn't favor one over another, but the one with the red mohawk is the absolute favorite 💗 I colored his mohawk bright red just because...😝

Newton's Nook Designs Company of Cats Set - Naki Rager

So apparently, I was in a "dimensional" mood {LOL}
First, I layered the grass on one of my bunny cards yesterday, today, I stamped and fussy cut each row of these kitties so I could do this ⇧

Newton's Nook Designs Company of Cats Set - Naki Rager

Here's from the other side of the card.
It took me a long time to make this, so yes! I want you to see it! {LOL}

Newton's Nook Designs Company of Cats Set - Naki Rager

My second card with this adorable set is a total opposite of the first one!
I wanted to show you that you don't have to color each and every kitty to use this big stamp ;-) I brainstormed...💡 A chalkboard would be fun! MAN! I was right!

Newton's Nook Designs Company of Cats Set - Naki Rager

I heat embossed the image with white embossing powder on black cardstock, gave everyone blushed cheeks with this pink chalk pencil, colored their accessories with green, blue, purple, yellow, and orange chalk pencils, also white and gold regular colored pencils. I rubbed some Perfect Pearl with my finger to give a more chalky look.

Newton's Nook Designs Company of Cats Set - Naki Rager

I was going to use the other sentiment from the set, but I didn't want to make one of the cats stand out, I really liked this chalkboard art look! So there I went, looking through my NND stash, and this Meow die from the Newton Unwinds Die set stopped me ;-) It's just perfect, isn't it!? 💗
