Hello, lovelies! Happy Friday!
The Newton's Nook Designs Team is hopping along today to share some great Sweet Treats - just in time for Valentine's day! Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the whole list and hop along and comment for a chance to win!
Here is my sweet treat...;-)
I had so many ideas for this blog hop even though Valentine's day is my less favorite holiday! But ever since Jen released the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set, I LOVE making tags 💗 I don't know what will go inside that box yet, but it will be filled with some fun stuff for certain!
So when I have too many ideas or none whatsoever, I like to flip through my NND stash, and this Halloween set, Newton's Costume Party, stopped me ;-) I heat embossed the bee costume with Tea Rose Embossing Powder on watercolor paper, colored the hood part with also tea rose (different companies but they both have the same name!) and gold, and the stripes with yellow and light gray. I did use the coordinating die but I didn't like the pink outline so decided to fussy cut to get rid of some of them. The wings were heat embossed with gold embossing powder on vellum then die cut. Vellum wings kind of disappeared on the vellum tag, so I added a lot of sparkles with the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. I gotta tell you, Stella and I don't exactly have the best relationship, she doesn't really give me a lot of sparkles (she's so mean! LOL)😣 This probably has at least 6 coats!
I just had to make a shaker tag! It's just so much more fun, you know!?
I die cut 2 of the tags and sewed them together. I did leave the top opened to pour in my confetti in first. I added gold, silver, and rose gold heart confetti, sparkling clear bead seeds, and teeny weeny iridescent heart and butterfly confetti. I love how the iridescent look minty through vellum!
I love tassels with tags! 💗 They add so much drama!
I think it was actually the same hop from last year, I had made tassels and some people asked me for a tutorial. I didn't mean to ignore your request, I'm just simply very forgetful, and this was the first time I've made another tassel since! {so sorry!}
So here it goes!
Making tassels is really easy.
You start with wrapping twine or whatever the material of your choice around pretty much anything. I just use my fingers, and since this one was a mini size, I only used 2 fingers.
When you have enough (and it's completely up to you!), slide the twine off of your fingers and tie on the side of the loops that has no loose ends.
For this mini tassel, I used gold thread but for bigger ones, you'd want to use twine.
Tie a snippet of twine once, go the other side and tie again, then wrap the twine tightly then make a knot. Cut the excess and tuck that inside the tassel.
Cut all the loops then trim them to make it even, that's it ;-)
Super easy, super cute ;-)
