Inky Paws Challenge

Thursday, July 30, 2015

Hi there, my crafty friends!
Today I am playing along with the Inky Paws Challenge over at Newton's Nook Designs!

Fun theme!
Here is my take...

I LOVE beaches...have so many fond memories.
I don't know how to swim, so ocean waves scare me though...LOL

Newton's got a nice tan while napping buried in the sand!
I am so in love with the soft look of no outline coloring, but I do not own alcohol based markers, so I stamped the sand castle and Newton in Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral for the bucket and the sunglasses, traced the outlines with the Crumb Cake Marker and Calypso Coral Marker, and kind of water it down and moved the ink inside of the images with a small paint brush. I don't like doing it this way because I lose some of the outlines and it all becomes blah! But I won't be getting the Copic markers for a long time due to their price so this has to do it...

Fun in the sun!
I originally stamped "fun in the" using 2 stamp sets, but I hated it!!
So I used that cute fun paper clip from Freckled Fawn on some clouds, and just wrote "in the" by hand. I don't like to do that, but I couldn't find any alphabet stamps that fit!

The sun was made with the Blueprint 25 die set from MFT.

I was really happy with how this card was turning up until I added the sentiment... I wasn't going to have a sentiment, and I probably should have left it that way! Does that ever happen to you!? Oh well, at least my Newton looks happy ;-)

My notes...

Stamp: Newton's Summer Vacation (Newton's Nook Designs)
Paper: Thick Whisper White, Crumb cake, Soft Sky, Calypso Coral,Daffodil Delight,  Watercolor Paper
Ink: Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky
Accessory: FUN Paper Clip (Freckled Fawn)
Tool: Clouds Wise Die (Paper Smooches), Puffy Cloud Border Lawn Cut (Lawn Fawn), Die-namics Blueprint 25 (My Favorite Things)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it! ;-)
I am thinking about making another summer fun card with Newton, so stay tuned!

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge

Wednesday, July 29, 2015

Hi there!
Hope you all are enjoying these hot summer days!
My kids are all sick, my main duty is to wipe their little faces! Ha Ha :-D
Anyway, here is a card I made for Paper Smooches SPARKS Sketch Challenge!

Here is my card ;-)

Somehow this card became very shabby chic!
I'm loving it though!

I die cut those cute hearts in the Crate Paper Flea Market Patterned Paper with the Heart Dies, then sewed them on my little tag. I also added some washi tape, that row of tiny hearts , and the little folder tab. The tag is layered on top of a piece of burlap.

I used the same patterned paper for the sentiment as one of the hearts.
It is layered on the lace trim from Save on Craft, then I wrapped them with the Linen Thread a couple of times before making a bow.

My notes...

Paper: Naturals Ivory, Crate Paper Flea Market (American Craft)
Accessory: Washi Tape, Linen Thread, Burlap and Lace Trim (Save on Craft)
Tool: 1/2" Circle Punch, Tiny Heart Punch (Fiskars), Hearts and Love Wise Dies (Paper Smooches), Die-namics Blueprint 15 (My Favorite Things), Sewing Machine

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Sketch For You To Try

Tuesday, July 28, 2015

Hi there!
Today I am playing along with the Sketch For You To Try Challenge over at Reverse Confetti!

July15

And here is my take :-)

For his card, I picked fun and classy, black and gold party!

I LOVE their Party Hats stamp/die sets! The stamp set gives you a few different hats with different designs. I chose this fun "time to party" hat and heat embossed in black, then added die cut pompoms in gold foil.
I used the design vellum with stars, stitched it on the Thick Whisper White Cardstock, then realized I could have added some of the teeny tiny confetti I have. So I removed a few stitches and poured some inside, then sealed it with pieces of gold washi tape. (You can see it in the photo below)

I am not sure why I decided to make a tassel, but it's fun, isn't it!?
I used the Black and Gold Baker's Twines.
And to place it on the card, I simply stapled it, also a small glue dot just in case ;-)

I repeated some more stars with the chipboard stars and the Star Garland Die.
I am pretty happy with how this card turned out, my tassel looks a it messy though...haha ;-D

My notes...

Stamp: Party Hats (Reverse Confetti)
Paper: Thick Whisper White, Basic Black, Gold Foil Sheet, Typeset SDSP, Design Vellum (Papertrey)
Ink: Versamark
Accessory: Black and Gold Baker's Twines, Gold Dot Washi Tape (SU!), Gold Chevron Washi Tape (3M),  Confetti (Martha Stewart), Chipboard Stars (Heidi Swapp PL Kit)
Tool: Party Hats and Star Garland Confetti Cuts (Reverse Confetti), Die-namics Blueprint 15 (My Favorite Things), Stapler, Sewing Machine

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 321

Sunday, July 26, 2015

Hi there!
It is another time for Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!
This week's sponsor is DRS Designs.
They have SO many fabulous stamps!

Fabulous color combo, isn't it!?
Here is my card ;-)

I got this stars background stamp and vertical sentiment from the sponsor, thank you DRS Designs!

I cut 1/2" x 3-3/4" strips in the Whisper White and Night of Navy cardstock.
I was using the grid paper to level them as I was adhering them, but somehow they started to get crooked! Ugh!! I did manage to fix it though...phew!
I then heat embossed the Stars all over on the card front. Who said background stamps couldn't be the star of your cards!? I think this card turned out to be better than what I pictured in my head!

I cut that 1/2" x 5-1/2" night of Navy strip, heat embossed the vertical sentiment and the stars on it, then adhered it on the inside of the card. Isn't this sentiment awesome!? It's so unique, and I love unique!

My notes...

Stamp: Starry Background, Vertical Birthday Wishes (DRS Designs)
Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Gold Glimmer Paper
Ink: Versamark
Tool: Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Stars Die (Studio Calico)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Sparkle and Shine Challenge

Thursday, July 23, 2015

Hello there!
Today I am joining the fun over at Sparkle and Shine Challenge
They have a sketch for you!

A very interesting sketch, isn't it!?

After I was done making this card, I decide to enter in the Little Tangles Challenge as well since I used a lot of dies!

AND! I also realized that my 3 colors are "Gallon/Quart/Pint" ratio as one of the lessens over at My Favorite Things, so why not enter it!?

Here is my card:-)

I was pretty true to the sketch, and am so happy with how this card turned out!
See, Night of navy is my gallon, Silver is my quart, and Daffodil Delight is my pint. A good advise usually sticks to you, because I really wasn't trying!
I just got that globe die from Amazon.com, such a dangerous place for shopping! You can literally find anything you're looking for! or in my case, I find things I wasn't looking for.....LOL

This super adorable rocket stamp set is from Studio Calico, they were having these ridiculous sales every week, and this set was dirt cheap! plus free shipping! I couldn't resist... and I am glad I bought it! The set gives you a boy and a girl to sit inside the rocket. I chose the boy for this one because this is going to be my 2nd surprise card for my husband! *wink*
I actually colored the rocket with the silver glitter pen, but not a lot of glitter came out :-( Oh well, I think this card has enough sparkles anyway, right!?

Of course I had to add some silver star sequins!
This Sparkle and Shine challenge does not require you to use Pretty Pink Posh sequins, but required or not, I can always use them on my cards! ;-)

My notes...

Stamp: Rocket set (Studio Calico)
Paper: Thick Whisper White, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, Silver Foil Sheet, Typeset SDSP, Maritime DSP
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Encore Silver Ink Pad
Accessory: Silver Stars Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh)
Tool: 2-1/2" Circle Punch, Stars Die (Studio Calico), Shimelle Globe Die (American Craft), Die-namics Blueprint 15 (My Favorite Things), Finished Framed Elle-ments (Avery Elle-I used one of the stars)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Grumpy

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Hi there!

A lot of Stampin' Up! demos are in Salt Lake City this week for the annual convention, and my fun group Pretty Pals play this "green with Envy" on our private Facebook page every year. Those who are not attending the convention make cards using green, that's all to it! The envy part reminded me of this cute, but grumpy dinosaur stamp from Paper Smooches.

So once again, I am joining the fun over at Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge!

Lesson #9 – Color Theory: Secondary Colors

Also decided to play another color challenge over at My Favorite Things since I am using green. I recommend heading over to their blog and read all about colors, it's fun to learn!

So here it is, my grumpy guy is green with envy! Ha Ha:-D

I am totally loving this grumpasaurus!
I die cut and stamped this cutie on this patterned paper from Twitterpated DSP, then stamped just his head on the Whisper White cardstock so I could cut his teeth and eye out.
I used the Lulu Fringe Cutaways die for long grass. I used the Old Olive Patterned Paper so it was more fun! Then I thought the Chevron Paper in Tangerine Tango might be fun with all this green, plus those stripes make him look really mad!

I was going to use the sentiment that says "cheer up grumpasaurus" from the same stamp set, but I wanted to use purple somewhere. So I die cut "GRR" instead.

My notes...

Stamp: Cuteasaurus (Paper Smooches)
Paper: Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Vellum, Twitterpated DSP, Howlstooth and Scarybone DSP, Brights DSP Stack
Ink: Soft Suede, Memento Tuxedo Black
Tool: Dinos 1 Wise Die (Paper Smooches), Lulu Fringe Cutaways (Winnie & Water), Die-namics Stitched Rectangles STAX, Stitched Speech Bubble Edges, Emmitt Alphabet (My Favorite Things)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

MFT Summer School

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

Hello there!
They are having Summer School over at My Favorite Things and I am joining the fun! They are teaching all about colors and you get to do "homework". I know, that doesn't sound fun, Ha Ha:-D but if you go over there and read, you'll want to join too!

Lesson #6 – Color Theory: Gallon/Quart/Pint

Handmade card from Kimberly Crawford featuring the Party Patterns stamp set.

Lesson #7 – Color Theory: Complementary Colors

So they have several lessens and today I am playing with 2 of them combined!

I picked Coastal Cabana as my gallon, Gold as quart, and Tangerine Tango as pint. And Coastal Cabana and Tangerine Tango are my complementary colors. Love those 2 colors together!

I love MFT's blueprints! I am not good with sketches so they truly help me.
I was dying to play with my new goodies from MFT, the Stars and Wishes Die set and the Count the Stars Stamp set! I got them as soon as they were released last month and I finally got a chance! The party hat waited to be played even longer! It's from Reverse Confetti, isn't it fun!?

I wasn't sure what to add on my base, but those streamers did the job!
I added a couple of stars from the Heidi Swapp PL Card kit as well. Speaking of Heidi Swapp, my heart aches for her and her family...

My notes...

Stamp: Count the Stars (My Favorite Things), Party Hats (Reverse Confetti)
Paper: Thick Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Tangerine Tango, Gold Foil Sheet, Vellum
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Versamark

Tool: Tangerine Tango Stampin' Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Die-namics Blueprint 15 and Stars and Wishes (My Favorite Things), Party Hats Confetti Cuts (Reverse Confetti), The Party Confetti Cutaways (Winnie & Walter)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
I will try to do more homework for other lessens so stay tuned!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 319

Sunday, July 19, 2015

Hi there, lovelies!
It's Sunday, and time for another Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!
This week's sponsor is Fresh Brewed Designs

This week is a theme challenge, Coffee and Cupcake!
How fun is that!!?

Do you like that coffee and cupcake pair!?
The sponsor drew 2 designs just for us, isn't it awesome!?
I chose this cute pair, they just make me happy :-)

I LOVE coffee, totally addicted! Switching to decaf due to the pregnancies and breastfeeding was SO HARD!!! Thank goodness that's all over! lol
I actually don't care too much for cakes, I like them, but would never crave them. But when I do eat them, my favorite is strawberry ;-) It's pink and pretty, and I love anything strawberry flavored! So my cute cupcake was colored in pink too;-) Of course it needed some pretty sprinkles! My coffee cup was colored in Pistachio Pudding to match the green sequins.

Milk and cookies, tea and biscuits, coffee and cupcakes... Nothing in this world is perfect, but these pairs are perfect together, don't you agree!? So the sentiment was made with a mixture of die cuts and faux labels, fun! I chopped up one of my paper doilies and added the pieces everywhere!
Now I'm looking at this picture, that green heart was a bit too much, don't you think? I need to start taking pictures before I assemble my cards so I notice things!

My notes...

Stamp: Special Design by Fresh Brewed Designs (available for purchase from the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge site!)
Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Calypso Coral, This and That DSP
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride, Pistachio Pudding, So Saffron Stampin' Markers, Versamark
Accessory: Birthday Bash Mix (Pretty Pink Posh for Winnie & Walter), Green Vellum Heart Die-cut (Studio Calico), Paper Doily
Tool: Perfect Die (Waffle Flower), Coffee Die (Your Next Stamp), Heat Tool, White Stampin' Emboss Powder

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Now let's head over to the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge site and check out the rest of the team's beautiful projects!

With Sympathy

Saturday, July 18, 2015

Hello! Happy Saturday!
Today I have a sympathy card to share with you.

I only make sympathy cards as needed, I just feel it's such bad luck to have them in my stash! My husband asked me one so here it is.

This Dainty Flower die is perfect for this card!
I lightly colored the Irresistibly Yours SDSP with Smoky Slate to show the leaves.
That beautiful sentiment is Avery Elle, I just love the font!

I wasn't sure if a paper doily would make it too feminine, but I don't think that's where your eyes are drawn to, so it is fine, don't you think?

My notes...

Stamp: Oh Happy Day (Avery Elle)
Paper: Thick Whisper White, Vellum, irresistibly Yours SDSP, Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP, Subtles DSP Stack (Retired Patterns)
Ink: Smoky Slate, Versamark
Accessory: Yellow Gumdrop (Your Next Stamp), Paper Doily
Tool: Dainty Flowers (Paper Smooches), Die-namics Stitched Rectangles STAX (My Favorite Things), Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Sewing Machine

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Pin-Sight Challenge

Friday, July 17, 2015

Hello there!
I am playing along in the Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sight Challenge!

Banner-PIN-sights

So Ralph Lauren, isn't it!?
I made 2 simple cards, these photos were just too inspirational!

The patriotic red, white, and blue had to be my colors on both cards!
I used 2 stamp sets from Essentials by Ellen. They are both 4"x4".

Pretty, isn't it!?
It was super easy to make! I Started with a 4"x4" piece of watercolor paper, I drew lines with the Night of Navy Stampin' Marker then went over them with one of my bigger paint brushes. I then die cut the flower and leaf with the Bold Bloom die, adhered them, then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. I was actually done there, but it needed something, so I added some gold and white sequins;-) It was perfect!

My second card was easy as well. I just stamped that gem in Pacific Point and Real Red. I eyeballed them but the grid paper helped too. Then I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and that little gem, fussy cut the gem and placed it with the Stampin' Dimensionals. For the finishing touch, I brushed all the gems with the Glitter Pen. Done!

My notes...

Stamp: Bold Blooms, Hello Gorgeous (Essentials by Ellen)
Paper: Thick Whisper White, Watercolor Paper, Vellum, Brights DSP Stack (Retired Patterns)
Ink: Versamark, Pacific Point, Real Red, Night of Navy
Accessory: Gold and Marshmallow Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh)
Tool: Gold Stampin' Emboss powder, Heat Tool, Bold Bloom Stand-Alone Designer Die (Essentials by Ellen), Paint Brush

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
