Freshly Made Sketches

Monday, June 20, 2016

Hi there, Happy Monday!
I am making a quick stop to share this set of thank you cards for my son's teachers and their aides, and Ha! the sketch I came up with is actually the same as the one at Freshly Made Sketches by Miss Karren (I'm a big fan of her work!), and they're closing soon!

Here they are ;-)

Okay, so my sentiment is in a wrong place...lol
I needed 6 cards because my son was in the special ed class, which has one teacher and three aides! Now he is in one of the regular classes, which only has one teacher. And one more for his super sweet bus driver, too! I don't enjoy mass production, so I needed something very simple and quick!
I got this Apple stamp/die sets just for this occasion, aren't they just so yummy!?
The apples were heat embossed with gold on Cherry Cobbler cardstock then die cut.

I wanted to use the ruler washi tape, but it needed more colors so I went through my ridiculous washi tape collection, and this is what I got ;-)
I die cut the sentiment and a little leave, done!

W&W Challenges

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Hi there, Happy Wednesday!
Today I am playing along with two challenges over at Winnie and Walter!

w&w_rerun_logo

First up is their Return Challenge!
They're featuring one of their stamp sets True this month.

Oooh lookie! My favorite challenge Gossip Column is back!
She is challenging you to use rainbow/spectrum colors!

So I combined the two of them and here is my take...

So this is not the first rainbow challenge out there and I have played them, BUT she also talks about spectrum, explains how a rainbow is created, etc... Well, that certainly is first, and very educational ;-)

The True stamp set is very pretty, and I can't help but to heat emboss one of the images and watercolor it! (gosh, obsessed much!!? lol) I used the Zig Clean Color Real Brush in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, blue-purple, and red-purple. I also colored my sentiment die with the same colors. The little sentiment True was heat embossed with light gold on vellum and fussy cut, then glued onto the LOVE.

Those clear sequins above the heart are my white light, which is refracting on my sentiment through my crystal heart ;-) I also sprinkled my rainbow color sequins (which was a little gift from W&W with my order, I love it!) and some tiny gold stars. The background was sponged over the Multifaceted Creative Screening with the Peacock Feather Distressed Ink. This design was totally inspired by this awesome photo below!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 364

Sunday, June 12, 2016

Hello lovelies, happy Sunday!
It is time for another Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!
This week's sponsor is Pickled Potpourri Designs!

We have a very fun, summery color combo for you!
Sunflowers are my FAVORITE! I love how they stand tall and follow the sun :-)
This color challenge will run for 3 weeks due to the summer break we're taking, so you have a plenty of time to play along!
Alright, here is my take...;-)

The sponsor provided us a few digi images to play with, and I picked this adorable skunk!

I printed this cutie on Whisper White cardstock, then colored the flower and ladybug with my new Spectrum Noir Markers. I just cannot seem to commit to the price of Copic markers, so I've decided to practice with them first... It is so much fun!

The markers weren't the only new toy I had for this card ;-)
I used the Ken Oliver Color Burst for my background and the sentiment.
It's dry paint, you sprinkle it on watercolor paper and spritz some water, that's it! It's really fun!

A few clear sequins were added and done!
She is just stinkin' cute!

Well, this digital stamp set comes with 2 skunks, and I just had to use both of the images! I mean, look at this cutie!!

The same process as the other card, I printed on Whisper White cardstock, colored the flowers with the Spectrum Noir markers.

This image had this teeny tiny bee with a dotted line that's tracing his way, and I originally kept the line but I wanted him on top of the sentiment instead. I die cut the sentiment from Basic Black and Crushed Curry cardstock just like the little bee ;-)
The background was made with the same technique as the first card except I used a lot less water on this one to get more of splatter look.

I stamped LOVE over and over to create my own patterned paper.
The watercolor paper seemed to fade right on the white so I matted it onto the Cucumber Crush cardstock first to break it down a bit. I added small pieces of washi tape for the finishing touch ;-)

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 363

Sunday, June 5, 2016

Hi there, happy Sunday!
It's time for another Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!
This week's sponsor is The Greeting Farm ;-)
I did not know about this company, but I immediately fell in love with their adorable stamps! So make sure you visit their shop and check them out!

We have a super fun theme for you this week!
So pretty, and so perfect for summer!!
Here is my take...;-)

What do you think of when you hear "under the sea"?
Two things pop in my head...
#1. Ariel from The Little mermaid
#2. The prom theme from my favorite movie Back to the Future *LOL*

Lucky for me, they have many cute mermaid stamps!
The sponsor gave us gift certificates to shop at their store, so very generous! Thank you!! I picked this beauty, it was shipped to me super quickly too!!!
I stamped her with Antique Linen Distressed ink then water colored (refreshing! lol). She was so much fun to color! I was very much inspired by the colors on their sample image!

I borrowed this adorable sentiment from the Tranquil Tides set by Newton's Nook Designs. It was heat embossed with white on vellum then punched out with the circle punch along with two other circles. They're supposed to be big bubbles!

I also borrowed these coral and sea star images from the same stamp set.
My husband's passion is marine life, especially reef corals. So anytime I see stamp sets with ocean creatures, I get so excited!
Everyone was popped on this awesome confetti die cut, I thought it looked like a bunch of air bubbles in the ocean! It was sewn onto a vellum with tiny irregular circle images, which again reminded of bubbles. Sorry my photo isn't clear to see that...
The weather has been very summer like already here in upstate NY, I cannot wait to jump in the pool and pretend to be a mermaid!

Showers of Kindness

Friday, June 3, 2016

Happy Friday, my crafty friends!
Today I wanted to share this thank you card I made for Jennifer Jackson, the owner and designer of Newton's Nook Designs for having me on her blog last month!

It's raining shimmers and sparkles!

I love this adorable duck with his umbrella and rain boots!
Of course I had to watercolor him (I'm so predictable...lol)
"Showers of Kindness" is exactly what Jen gave me, what a lovely lady she is!

I used Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, and pacific Point (which are the same colors on the umbrella, duck, and his boots) to color some scrap watercolor paper, then die cut the sentiment twice. Isn't it beautiful!? This is exactly why I love watercolor ;-)

I die cut rain drops several times, then poured some teeny tiny heart confetti in a plastic bag and matted on the back of the cardstock, but the confetti would just all fall in the bottom of the bag. So I had to cut the bag smaller, taped down behind each cluster of rain drops! Yeah, it's quite a mess behind the scene...lol

I love how this card turned out!
My favorite part of it is...everything! LOL
