Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 24, 2016

Hello lovelies!
Today I am playing along with 2 of my favorite challenges!
I know, I don't play challenges anymore, but these 2 inspired me!

This beautiful inspirational board is from the Pin-Sights Challenge over at Ellen Hutson.
I am in LOVE with all these gorgeous fall colors! But my favorite is the pumpkins!

And then here is the Mixed Media Card Challenge with a Thanksgiving theme!

Here is what I came up with...;-)

I really love the green and orange on those pumpkins in the Pin-Sights Photo, so that is exactly what I made;-)
I die cut 4 Thanks sentiments from white and adhered them on white panel. I then applied some embossing paste over the Stencil.

I started with water coloring orange and green on a piece of watercolor paper, die cut these gorgeous gourds from the orange and green. Then I removed those little pieces inside of them and placed the green pieces in the orange gourds just like the photo!
"Happy Thanksgiving" was heat embossed with copper, cut into 3 pieces randomly, then popped on over my beautiful pumpkin.

To repeat the gorgeous warm copper, I added a little snippet of copper thread and several copper sequins. I just love how this card turned out!

{my notes}

Stamp: Alphabet (SU!)
Paper: Bright White (Neenah), Watercolor Paper
Ink: Gumball Green, Tangelo Twist Reinkers (SU!), Versamark
Accessory: Metallic Copper Thread, Washi Tape (SU!), 4mm Copper Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh)
Tool: Thanks Die (STAMPlorations), Gourd-jus Die (Ellen Hutson), Embossing Paste (Ranger), Splatter Stencil (Tim Holtz), Heat Tool, Copper Emboss Powder (SU!)

If you're in the US, Happy Thanksgiving!

The Mixed Media Card Challenge

Thursday, August 25, 2016

Hey there lovelies!
It's been a long time since I played along with a challenge just for fun!
Here is one of my favorites, The Mixed Media Card Challenge!

A rainbow theme is always fun!
Who doesn't like pretty rainbows!?
Here is my take ;-)

I LOVE how this card turned out!
Actually I've made a similar card before, but I like this one better ;-)

I love this candle stamp from the Kathryn's Big Wishes set by STAMPlorations, it is so cute!
The candle image was stamped on watercolor paper then water colored with rainbow colors. This little sentiment "make a " was stamped all over the front panel, and I tore the top then distressed the sides and bottom.
I very lightly applied embossing paste randomly over a stencil also.

I die cut the wish sentiment from black, yellow, green, and blue cardstock, then they were mounted on each other slightly off so the colors are visible. The panel was sewn onto the red and white polka dot patterned paper. It was then matted on my base card, and a few gold stars were added.
I.LOVE.IT.!!!

*my notes*

Home Sweet Home

Thursday, April 21, 2016

Hello my friends!
I am playing along with the Mixed Media Card Challenge today!
Check out their theme this month...;-)

So fun, right!?
Their DT members created some really awesome cards!
Here is my take...

Originally, I didn't think I could come up with any designs with "sunshine", but their optional element (which I usually forget) helped me with this design!

I die cut the sun twice in Daffodil Delight, mounted them on top of each other, then I stamped the word sunshine randomly with the Alphabet Rotary Stamp.

I heat embossed the words "home" and "sweet" on these die cut clouds, then very lightly colored them with Pool Party.

These bricks must be the smallest brick image there is...*Hee Hee*
I remembered that this cute little house had brick walls, and that is how I came up with this design! I stamped the image on watercolor paper, colored with Stampin' reinkers then die cut it. I wanted to give it a chipboard feel so 3 more of them were die cut then mounted on top of each other.

I die cut "Home" in the Typeset SDSP, and you know how thin this paper is, so I die cut it two more times with cardstock. I wanted a couple more houses on the background, and I always say this but it is good to hoard old patterned papers! because I remembered that the Well Worn DSP has Cajun Craze, and look what I found!? Brick image!
The bottom of the card was heat embossed with gold emboss powder, and blue and light gold mixed into green! Isn't it pretty!?

My notes...

Stamp: Holiday Home, Alphabet Rotary Stamp (SU!)
Paper: Crumb Cake, Pool Party, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Well Worn DSP, Typeset SDSP, Watercolor Paper
Ink: Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black, Stazon Jet Black, Smoky Slate, Pool Party, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight Stampin' Reinkers (SU!)
Tool: Heat Tool, Pool Party Stampin' Emboss Powder, Enchanted Gold Emboss Powder (Ranger), Homemade Holiday Framelits (SU!), Spring Showers Lawn Cut (Lawn Fawn), In a Word: Home Cutaway (Winnie and Walter)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Love is in the air

Tuesday, February 2, 2016

Hello, happy February!!
I have a card filled with love today, just perfect for Valentine's day!
I was inspired by some of my favorite challenges :-)

Januarypinsights

As usual, they have pretty photos to inspire us!
The Pin-Sights Challenge over at Ellen Hutson is about close!

Here is another one of my favorites Mixed media Card Challenge, they want cards with red as well!

Here is one more, Sparkle and Shine Challenge
And here is my card...

Can this get any sweeter!?

As soon as I saw the photo over at Sparkle and Shine, I grabbed this lovely, adorable stamp set from WPlus9, Happy Mail. The images in this set are all so soft and cute, I am in love!
I stamped the cute polar bear with Smoky Slate on watercolor paper, went over the lines with the tiny paint brush to get the shadow. I love how it turned out! Of course I had to give him a blushed cheek ;-)
The sentiment is from Ellen Hutson, I sewed it onto a doily that I tore off. I wanted to add a little bit of lace because of their inspirational photos ;-)

The background was water colored with Blushing Bride first, then I daubed with versamark over the heart stencil and heat embossed with the clear emboss powder. I then used the same stencil and applied the gold embossing paste in some of the hearts.
The edges of the paper was distressed with the Distressed tool and sand paper, then was sewn onto my base card.
That little envelope is from the same stamp set, I added that teeny tiny die cut heart on it.

Since the die I used to get that tiny heart was a border, I got several of them. It seemed like a big waste to just toss them so I sprinkled them all over my card.
I love that little vintage rose, isn't it pretty!?

My notes...

Stamp: Happy Mail (WPlus9)
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Watercolor Paper
Ink: Blushing Bride Stampin' Reinker, Smoky Slate Stampin' Ink Pad, Pale Pink Kuretake Watercolor Brush, Versamark
Accessory: Paper Doily (Stampin' Up!), Vintage Rose (Tim Holtz Idea-ology), Gold Embossing Paste (Ranger)
Tool: Heat Tool, Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder (Stampin' Up!), Essentials by Ellen Designer Die Brushstroke Love, (Ellen Hutson), Hearts All Over ARTplorations Stencil (STAMPlorations), Happy Mail Die Set (WPlus9), Essentials: Audrey Cutaway (Winnie and Walter), Sewing Machine

New Year, New Beginning

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Hi there!
I am very excited!
My dearest, lovely friend AKA my partner in crime Nina and her husband welcomed their first baby on Monday! Brand new mama and her brand new baby girl are both doing well :-)
I've had some stuff that I meant to mail to her before the baby's arrival, waaaay before it to be honest with you...lol So I made a card to go with it ;-)

Nina was nesting like a busy bee, and sent me some photos of the new nursery. This card is based on her chic, beautiful room :-)
Do you see that little wrinkle on the right side of the card? It was an accident, but I love it! It adds just a tiny bit but some texture! I think I'll do that purposely from now on...;-)

I am also playing along with the Mixed Media Card Challenge again!
This month's theme is beginning, this certainly is new beginning of their life as a brand new family :-)

Her nursery is black and white with a dash of gold.
It is so chic and pretty!
She has this black and white comforter that has a cute little face of French Bulldog on it, and I love it! I have this stamp set from the cat bundle I bought from Studio Calico, even though he's not a French Bulldog, he's still super adorable ;-) I heat embossed him with black rather than just stamping with ink, just to add some texture.
Some gold washi tape was applied on that little corner because it looked bare, and more texture.

She just put up these black vinyl polka dots on one of the walls in the nursery, it is super cute! I used one of the dots from the Cool Dudes Stamp set to mimic that wall. I randomly stamped the dots with Versamark on the Whisper White cardstock then heat embossed with black. Her wall doesn't have gold dots, but I felt like adding them on my card.
I pleated the gold ribbon and sewed it down to kind of break up all the black and white going on. I also added that cute white with tiny gold heart washi tape.

As I said earlier, her nursery only has a dash of gold, but I am very excited about this baby girl so I personally wanted more gold to celebrate her arrival! Does that make sense!? lol

I hope the new mama loves this card as much as I do!

My notes...

Stamp: Baxter Cats and Dogs (Studio Calico), Cool Dudes (Paper Smooches)
Paper: Whisper White, Typeset SDSP, Gold Foil Sheet
Ink: Versamark, Encore Gold Ink
Accessory: Washi Tape, Gold Satin Ribbon
Tool: Heat Tool, Black Stampin' Emboss Powder, Die-namics Cross Stitched Rectangle STAX (My Favorite Things), Fancy Words Die (Your Next Stamp), Sewing Machine

Happy 2016!

Tuesday, January 5, 2016

Hi friends!
Today I have a card I made for 2 fun challenges!

Mixed Media Card Challenge is celebrating the new year!

I find this photo from the Sparkle and Shine Challenge so pretty and fun!

Here is my card...

I was totally inspired by the pretty colors and festive balloons!

The Celebrate Today set is my favorite from Stampin' Up!, but hadn't given any love forever! I die cut 3 balloons in Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, and Vellum. The vellum balloon was decorated with the confetti stamp from the same set. The other two were decorated with stars by using embossing paste and the stencil, which I punched some scrap paper with the Confetti Stars Punch.

Can you believe I don't own a single stamp that says happy new year!? What!?
I used the happy part from the Happy Birthday Border Lawn cut, and the number dies from Studio Calico to custom make my sentiment. I love sentiment dies...:-)

For my background, I stamped the sparkle image in Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder, then heat embossed the outline with silver, I love it! All it needed was a few silver star sequins!

My notes...

Stamp: Celebrate Today (Stampin' Up!), Scenery: BIGGER Bang Confetti (Winnie and Walter)
Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Vellum, Silver Foil Sheet, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink: Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Versamark
Accessory: Silver Star Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh), Silver Thread, Embossing Paste
Tool: Heat Tool, Solver Stampin' Emboss Powder, Balloon Framelits Die, Happy Birthday Border Lawn Cut (Lawn Fawn), Birthday Bear Die (Studio Calico)

Thank you so  much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Mixed Media Card Challenge

Saturday, December 19, 2015

Hi there, crafty friends!
I still am not in the holiday mood, and it's less than a week away!
I have another Christmas card I made for the Mixed Media Card Challenge though.

Such a perfect theme for this month!

And guess what!?
This was totally unplanned but my sketch happened to fit Freshly Made Sketches! HA! Now how awesome is that...!?

Here is my card...

I just realized something...
I always use vellum on my cards and when it was their optional element, I didn't use one... What's up with that!? LOL

As soon as I saw this month's theme, I knew I was using these beautiful wreath dies with my handsome stag! I die cut 4 of him, 1 in gold, 3 in Crumb Cake. Doesn't he look fancy with his bow tie!?

I'm pretty sure a lot of you would agree, but I love the $1 shelves at Target! I found these cute bows, and it was just the right size for the deer!

Here is another item from the $1 shelf at Target, the wooden sentiment! They're actually tags, but I saw them as sentiment on my cards...;-)
I mounted it on this pleated ribbon then brushed my fancy gold glitter pen on it.

Let me talk about the background.
I patted Versamark over this forest stencil from Winnie and Walter on watercolor paper, then heat embossed with white. I then brushed over the trees with watered down Crumb Cake Ink, water colored between them with Soft Sky. It's really too bad that I covered up most of it, because it came out beautiful!

I placed this beautiful window sheet with felt design on my Gumball Green base. It's from the SU Holiday Catty a few years back... I know, I was hoarding my DSPs all these years and now trying to use them...*hee hee*

My notes...

Paper: Gumball Green, Crumb Cake, Gold Foil Sheet, Mocha Morning SDSP, Watercolor Paper, Core'dinations Vintage Collection
Ink: Crumb Cake, Soft Sky, Versamark
Accessory: Real Red Waven Satin Ribbon, Mini Bows and Merry Christmas Tag (Target)
Tool: Heat Tool, White Stampin' Emboss Powder, Scenery: Into The Woods Creative Screening (Winnie and Walter), In Blooms: Paulina's Greenery Cutaway (Winnie and Walter), Maggie Holmes Open Book Die (Crate Paper), Paint Brush

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Mixed Media Card Challenge

Saturday, November 14, 2015

Hi there!
I am playing along with the Mixed Media Card Challenge today!

Here is my family card...

The first thing that came to my head was "family tree", so that is exactly what I made!

I made my tree with the Core'dination Core Color Cardstock. This was my very first time using them, and oh my! I am loving the distressed look you can make so very easily!
Each heart on the tree represents my family member, my very handsome husband, our 4 beautiful children, and myself.

Of course I had to water color my background, I am totally addicted!
I water colored it with Coastal Cabana, stamped the measuring tape background stamp lightly with Versamark then heat embossed with the Early Espresso emboss powder.

I heat embossed "family" and "love" with this little alphabet stamp set from Target's $1 shelf, cut them around the rectangles, water colored with Early Espresso.
Those little pocket watch die cut and key trinket are from Japan. My sister sent me some washi tape and stickers a few years back, and now that I've met mixed media, they make the perfect embellishments!

I cannot get enough of mixed media, it tickles my arty side!
I am still just a wanna-be, self taught by pinterest *Ha Ha Ha*
When I search mixed media on pinterest, I cannot stop and lose my sleep! LOL

My notes...

Stamp: Backgrounds Rule, Alphabet Set (Target)
Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Watercolor Paper, Core'dination Core Color Cardstock
Ink: Versamark
Accessory: Die Cut and Trinket Stickers (From Japan)
Tool: Heat Tool, Gumball Green, Crushed Curry Early Espresso Stampin' Emboss Powder, Sewing Machine

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
