Inky Paws Challenge 100th Challenge!

Wednesday, June 26, 2019

Hello, lovelies!
The Inky Paws Challenge is celebrating its 100th challenge with a super fun theme and we are joining in the fun today! "Copycat" has appeared on the IPC site
The rule is to simply pick your favorite theme or color or sketch from the previous challenges OR the special category "your favorite NND product", and create something fun  ;-)

Inky Paws Challenge #19 | Watercolor | Newton's Nook Designs

I picked #19 Use Watercolor!
This was the very first IPC I ever played along (just for fun, check out the card I created back in 2015 HERE).
It wasn't just my first IPC but also the first time I tried watercolor!!! I had always been afraid of watercolor because I totally sucked while in school! I didn't even own any watercolor, I used to use reinkers for my ink pads!

Anyway, here is my take...;-)

Newton Dreams of Paris Set - Naki Rager

I figured I'd use the same stamp set used for the original challenge, which is the Newton Dreams of Paris Set ;-) This was one of the first sets I ordered and it is still one of my fave sets 💚

Newton Dreams of Paris Set - Naki Rager

I fell in love with Jen's adorable images and wanted to play IPC even though it was a watercolor theme!
I think it is safe to say that my watercolor skills have improved since then...{LOL}
I stamped this adorable image with Antique Linen Distress Ink on watercolor paper and colored using various watercolor media, then it was die cut using the Newton Dreams of Paris Die Set. I colored this kitty like my Bramble, I just LOVE his unique marking!

Newton Dreams of Paris Set - Naki Rager

One of my all-time-faves the Essential Alphabet Die Set is perfect for creating your own custom sentiments and for today's card, "Meowci" (instead of merci) seemed fun and appropriate ;-)

Newton Dreams of Paris Set - Naki Rager

Before popping on my kitty with some foam tape, I die cut a puffy cloud using the Sky Borders Die Set, adhered it on the top of the watercolored panel.  I added several clear sequins in various sizes and done!

One lucky winner from each category will win a $25 store credit to the NND shop! So pick your favorite, get your paws inky, and link up your gorgeous projects by Friday, June 28th at midnight CST.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Make sure to play along and share with us!

Inky Paws Challenge 48

Monday, June 5, 2017

Hello, my lovelies!
Today we start a new Inky Paws Challenge!
Summer is around the corner (cannot wait!), and this theme reminds me of fun summer days!

I personally LOVE stripes!
They're just so fun!
My closet is filled with striped dresses for summer!
Alright, here is my take ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Party Pops Set - Naki Rager

So naturally, I looked for an image with stripes, and this adorable popsicle from the Party Pops set was the winner! Of course, that wasn't enough so after sponging and splattering some water on my background, I added more stripes with a stencil and multi medium matte, which dries clear and shiny, so fun! And finally, I figured striped washi tape on the side wouldn't hurt...:-)

Newton's Nook Designs Party Pops Set - Naki Rager

The popsicle was heat embossed with lime embossing powder on Blushing Bride cardstock then fussy cut. The popsicle stick was die cut from kraft cardstock with the Party Pops Purr-fect Die set. Those lovely hearts were from the Darling Hearts Purr-fect Die set. The big one was die cut twice from vellum and teal & white striped patterned paper, the small one was also die cut twice from striped vellum and Blushing Bride cardstock. The sweet sentiment was heat embossed on the big vellum heart Blushing Bride embossing powder.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Don't forget to link up your fabulous striped projects for a chance to win a prize!
Have a lovely week ;-)

Inky Paws Challenge 47

Monday, May 15, 2017

Hello lovelies!
I hope you enjoyed the May Release last week!
The new Inky Paws Challenge is starting today, and we have beautiful colors for you to play!

Ooooh!
Such pretty colors, aren't they!!!?
Here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Tranquil Tides Set - Naki Rager

These bright colors made me think of summer (can't wait!), and summer means beaches, beaches mean ocean! I knew I had to use the Tranquil Tides set for this challenge! I heat embossed the branch coral in Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, and Blushing Bride Emboss Powder on Neenah White Cardstock then die cut with the coordinating die. I didn't have to look far for this patterned paper either, isn't it just perfect! The cute little sentiment with a little fish and bubbles were heat embossed with the Snowflake Tinsel embossing powder on Crumb Cake.

Newton's Nook Designs Tranquil Tides Set - Naki Rager

I die cut the oval out in my front panel to make a window, wrapped the Linen Twine around on the top then added my tag with the sentiment. I was done there but it looked pretty plain so I stamped the cluster of tiny bubbles, but I didn't like it {LOL} so I needed a quick fix! I added several teal sequins and clear droplets, it helped, but needed something else... I stamped this cute little crab in Calypso Coral Ink and die cut, and placed him in the corner like he is coming over to look out the window!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Looking forward to seeing your beautiful cards linked up to the Inky Paws Challenge Blog

Inky Paws Challenge 46

Monday, May 1, 2017

Hello, Newton lovers!
The new Inky Paws Challenge starts today, and I am playing along!
This challenge is not only fun to play, but there is also prize(s) so don't forget to link up your NND card!

We have this fabulous sketch for you!
If you're a long time follower (thank you!), you know that sketches are my weakness! Thank goodness Jen is so very good with them!
Here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Flower Garden Set - Naki Rager

This sketch sent me a rustic vibe, and I LOVE rustic!

Newton's Nook Designs Flower Garden Set - Naki Rager

This beautiful sunflower is from the Flower Garden set!
As usual, I stamped the image with Antique Linen Distressed Ink then water colored. I used the coordinating "Garden Window" die set on my sunflower panel, one of my scraps, and finally the black and white striped patterned paper. I wrapped it with some yellow baker's Twine. Doesn't the sunflower really pop against black and white!?

Newton's Nook Designs Flower Garden Set - Naki Rager

This lovely sentiment "Hello Sunshine" is also from the Flower Garden set, I stamped it over and over on my kraft cardstock then distressed all the edges. I love that patterned paper from Crate Paper Flea Market patterned paper pad, it was just perfect for this card! I added some washi tape to my base and sewed the kraft panel onto them.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope to see your awesome creation over at the Inky Paws Challenge Blog, too!

Inky Paws Challenge 44

Monday, April 3, 2017

Hello lovelies!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
The new Inky Paws Challenge starts today and I am here with my card!

It's s color challenge!
Look at all the fun, bright colors!
Here is my take...;-)

I'm gonna be honest with you...these bold colors scared me {LOL}
I looked through my NND collection and got a few ideas but this one made me feel comfortable {Hee Hee}. I heat embossed the yummy lemonade image from the Freshly Squeezed set with white on watercolor paper panel once, then one more on another watercolor paper, colored them, then fussy cut my pink lemonade (yum!). The sentiment was also heat embossed with white, and water colored over it so it's more visible. After popping my pink lemonade on, it needed one more thing, and this halved lemon was it! It was stamped with antique linen distressed ink, water colored, and fussy cut. Isn't it just adorable sitting on that little corner!!? Some sequins and washi tape finish this summery card ;-)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope to see your fun and beautiful card linked up to the Inky Paws Challenge Blog

Inky paws Challenge 41

Monday, February 27, 2017

Hi there lovelies!
Inky Paws Challenge #41 started last week, and you have one more week to link up your beautiful project for a chance to win a gift certificate!
I decided to join Jess on her reminder post today with my card ;-)

Now do you see why I had to play along!?
My favorite colors!!! The photo is just too pretty too!
Here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Love & Chocolate Set - Naki Rager

Please don't say I have no imagination for using the macaroon image, which is what's in the photo! {LOL} I have never tried them, but I think they're such a cute looking treat!

Newton's Nook Designs Love & Chocolate Set - Naki Rager

The macaroons from the Love and Chocolate set were stamped with the Antique Linen Distressed Ink, water colored, and glitter was applied on the filling (what exactly is the filling?) I don't know why, but I decided to use a paper doily as a stencil to sponge. The softness of it is just beautiful, isn't it!?

Newton's Nook Designs Love & Chocolate Set - Naki Rager

My craft philosophy is, when I make a mistake, or things don't turn out to be the way I expected, "don't stress, just go with the flow and make something else with it". I'm not sure why I didn't use a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" watercolor paper, which I always do and make a cut later... This panel was awfully small, but I loved how sponging turned out! So I tried many different designs, different patterned paper, etc... This is what I got! What do you think? I actually like it a lot, it's so very different ;-)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!

Inky Paws Challenge 38

Friday, December 2, 2016

Hi there, happy Friday!
The new Inky Paws Challenge is starting today over at the Newton's Nook Designs Blog, and of course I had to play along!

We have a color challenge for you this month!
Look at this fun, festive, and pretty color combo!
Here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Joyful Tags Set - Naki Rager

I am absolutely, definitely obsessed with the Pines & Holly Purr-fect Die Set! {LOL}
I water colored with Gumball Green and Bermuda Bay on watercolor paper, then die cut a whole bunch of pine branches to make this big wreath! I also die cut a ring using 2 circle dies so I could adhere my branches in a perfect circle on it!

Newton's Nook Designs Joyful Tags Set - Naki Rager

Then I thought, why not a shaker!?
I sewed the plastic bag that stamps and dies come in, onto another ring, trimmed off the excess, added the sequins inside the bag, sealed it with more stitches, then glued the wreath on top.
I knew I wanted a bow on the wreath, then I thought to add one of the pretty tags from the new Joyful Tags set. I heat embossed this beauty in white on Bermuda Bay, punched out the red foil bow, and popped them onto my wreath!

Newton's Nook Designs Joyful Tags Set - Naki Rager

Here is a close up of the branches. If you look at them carefully, some of them have more Gumball Green, some have a mixture of both, and some have more Bermuda Bay. I think they turned out so very pretty!
Instead of mounting my pretty wreath on a plain white, I used this patterned paper that has shiny white stripes on white, I think diagonal stripes are so Christmasy!

What could be cozier than nice, warm, plaid blankets!?
Not to mention they're so pretty!
Alright, here is my take...;-)

I have the perfect patterned paper for this card!

I first picked this yellow plaid paper, then got the other colors right from it.
I actually am not sure if this ribbon is the same yellow, but I loved the nice, thick, knitted texture so I said, close enough! Hee Hee ;-D

I even used another plaid paper for the sentiment!
I layered a couple brown cardstock underneath the sentiment ti give a little dimension.

Look at all these warm, cozy colors! Then there is this light blue, just fabulous!
This was so very fun to make, and I love how it turned out, too!8569

I guess because we didn't celebrate it growing up in Japan (They do now, jealous!), I am catching up on the fun now! LOL
Okay, here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Perfect Pumpkin Set - Naki Rager

I made a shaker card with those fun little Halloween confetti!

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Perfect Pumpkin Set - Naki Rager

My black kitty is ready for Halloween with her witch hat and pumpkin!
She was stamped with Memento Ink then colored in with the Spectrum Noir Markers.

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Perfect Pumpkin Set - Naki Rager

I heat embossed 4 little spiderwebs, one with a spider creeping down, on vellum.
The Boo sentiment was die cut in black and orange then got prettied up with the glitter pen. This is actually a pretty simple design but definitely a lot of fun with the confetti and chevron!

Aww, I LOVE burlap with lace!
So rustic and romantic...:-)
Here is my take ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Pick-a-Pumpkin Set - Naki Rager

Summer is getting closer to an end, it's kind of sad but I love fall!

Newton's Nook Designs Pick-a-Pumpkin Set - Naki Rager

This was my first time inking up these lovely pumpkins, and I am totally in love with them! Look at the woodgrain on the gold one! Beautiful!
Some gold thread was placed between the pumpkins for some texture ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Pick-a-Pumpkin Set - Naki Rager

I have a lot of burlap, was going to do so many projects with it but so far, I've done a few of them...*LOL* The burlap, lace trim, and ribbons were all sewn together right onto my kraft base. Copper sequins were sprinkled all over the card for some sparkle, and to add one more fall color ;-)

Inky Paws Challenge 34

Friday, July 22, 2016

Hello there, Happy Friday!
We have a new Inky Paw Challenge starting today over at the Newton's Nook Designs Blog, and I joined the fun!

Now you see why I had to play along!?
Here is my summer card...;-)

I have so many fond memories of playing on the beach when I was growing up!
I actually didn't build sand castles, or sleep in a hammock like these pretty kitties tho *Hee Hee*

I stamped the kitty in a hammock from the Aloha Newton set, and the kitty building a sand castle from the Newton's Summer Vacations set with Sahara Sand on watercolor paper, and water colored. I gave both kitties nice tans with Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake, and the rest was colored with my Zig Clean Color Brushe set.  I heat embossed the sentiment with Pool Party, then popped the coconut drink next to it.

I added a piece of distress paper that was die cut with some foam tape to add some texture and dimension. I was actually done there but the right side needed some colors so I popped the bucket image from the Newton's Summer Vacation set.
I don't need to tell you about the sequins, right!? *Hee Hee*

*my notes*
Stamp: Aloha Newtons, Newton's Summer Vacations (Newton's Nook Designs)
Paper: Pool Party (SU!), Core'dinations Tim Holtz Nostalgic Kraft Cardstock, Watercolor Paper
