Advent Calendar with Newton's Nook Designs

Wednesday, November 27, 2019

Hello, lovelies!
Today I am up on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog with this super fun project that will keep you and your family excited about Christmas!

Newton's Nook Designs - Naki Rager

So I had this crazy idea to create an advent calendar using a bunch of NND products!
It is actually quite simple, just a bit time consuming! So the first thing I did was to die cut 24 tags using the Tags Times Two Die Set from Kraft with gold patterned paper. The dates were die cut using the Essential Alphabet Die Set and I mounted pieces of black cardstock on the back of the tags where the numbers are.

Newton's Nook Designs - Naki Rager

Then I grabbed a whole bunch of Christmas stamp sets and started heat embossing them with white EP on these little seed bags. The All Aboard for Christmas Set looks so stinkin' cute on the top row, doesn't it!? The second row is mostly a collection of Mini Stamp Sets, Purr-fect Present, Mistle Toad, Ginger Snap, Fleece Navidad, Llama Delivery, and Puppy Present

Newton's Nook Designs - Naki Rager

Here's a close-up from the other side.
On day 6, I have a kitty Santa in the chimney image from the Santa Paws Newton Set.

Newton's Nook Designs - Naki Rager

Day 13 has light bulbs from the Holiday Lights Mini Set, and we have cute little mice playing the Nutcracker from The Nutcracker Squeak Set on days 14-17. We'll take a look at day 18 a little later...
On the bottom row, I kind of created frames with the Poinsettia Blooms Set, aren't they gorgeous!!? I carefully lined up 3 bags to heat emboss the Main Street Christmas Set.

Newton's Nook Designs - Naki Rager

On day 18 has this fun image from the Reindeer Roll Call Set. I LOVE how the names and a few reindeer images are jammed in on a small rectangle!
Day 23 looks super fun with the Let It Snow Mini Set, and Christmas Eve is dressed up with the Poinsettia Blooms Set just like the other side of this row.

I am going to have pieces of cardstock in 3 colors and let my 3 kids pick a color (my youngest is autistic so she won't participate), then these bags will hold one of the colors each day and when they get their color, they can each pick a teeny weeny toy from a box (because they didn't fit in these bags..LOL). This way, they all get the same number of toys, and this mama doesn't have to pick who goes first! HA!
I think we'll have fun until Christmas Day!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US!!!

Newton's Nook Designs November Release Day 4

Thursday, November 14, 2019

Hello, lovelies!
Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs November Release!!!
All the new products will be available for purchase this Friday the 15th in the Newton's Nook Designs Shop ;-)
Today is the last day and we're revealing this super adorable set!

Yeeeeees!
A snowman family!!?
The new Frosty Folks Set is sure to melt your heart 💙
Here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Frosty Folks Set - Naki Rager

This little snowman family is simply adorable, I don't even know what to do!!!

Newton's Nook Designs Frosty Folks Set - Naki Rager

The image was stamped with light gray ink on watercolor paper and can I tell you how much fun I had coloring these guys!!? This is kind of partly no-line coloring since I didn't really color the snowmen but add shadows, which was my favorite part! {LOL}

Newton's Nook Designs Frosty Folks Set - Naki Rager

This sentiment and snowflakes from the set were heat embossed with light blue EP.

Newton's Nook Designs Frosty Folks Set - Naki Rager

For the background, Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold, and Tattered Rose Distress Inks were blended, then some copper ink was splattered all over. The very similar color scheme from yesterday's Let It Snow card was used on this card because #1. I really love this warm/cold contrast #2. It just made sense to have some warmth around these icy guys because of the sentiment "Winter is Warmer Together" ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Frosty Folks Set - Naki Rager

The Frosty Folks Stamp is a nice-sized stamp, and it is really, really cute so I didn't want to disturb the design with heavy embellishments. I think these teeny clear sequins did the trick to finish off this cold but warm card ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs November Release Day 3

Wednesday, November 13, 2019

Hello, lovelies!
Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs November Release!!!
All the new products will be available for purchase this Friday the 15th in the Newton's Nook Designs Shop ;-)
Today is day 3 and we're revealing 2 fun stamp sets!

The new Let It Snow Mini Set might be small, but look how fun it looks!
It can be the focal point of your card, or used as a sentiment ;-)

EEEEEEK!!! 💗
Who doesn't love adorable penguins!?
The new Penguin Pile Set will make you smile, and want to get creative with it, too!
Okay, here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Let It Snow Set - Naki Rager

First up is this shaker card that is showcasing the Let It Snow Mini Set ;-)
I wanted a snowy background to go with this fun stamp, and thought a snow globe would be perfect for all the snow!

Newton's Nook Designs Let It Snow Set - Naki Rager

Lucky for me, the mini stamp fits inside the snow globe beautifully!
So I heat embossed the image with white EP on acetate sheet, die cut the window from the front panel using the Snow Globe Shaker Die Set and mounted the acetate piece on the back of the opening. The cleanest way to create a shaker with an odd shape like this one is to use the Double Sided Adhesive Foam. I die cut the window out from the foam using the snow globe die and fussy cut around it to leave about 1/4" trim, then carefully lined it up to the opening. Super easy!

Newton's Nook Designs Let It Snow Set - Naki Rager

Tattered Rose, Scattered Straw, and Dried Marigold Distress Oxide Inks were blended on the front panel, some white ink was splattered all over it, then I stamped the Let It Snow Mini Stamp several times with this old SU Illuminate Ink, but I never figured out how you're supposed to use this ink, and really couldn't see the images! So I was going to heat emboss but I guess it's not very sticky like Versamark so that attempt failed as well 😑 But then, I remembered about Perfect Pearl so I dusted it all over and I just LOVE the sparkly but very subtle look!

Newton's Nook Designs Let It Snow Set - Naki Rager

The base of the snow globe was die cut with the Snow Globe Shaker Die Set from this light blue cardstock then popped on with foam tape. I LOVE the cold icy blue against the warm peachy color💙 Silver snowflakes were die cut using the snowflake confetti dies from the Snow Globe Shaker Die Set as well.

Newton's Nook Designs Penguin Pile Set - Naki Rager

These penguins are so stinkin' cute!!!
You can't tell from this photo but this is an interactive card ;-)
Check out my Instagram to see the little video!

Newton's Nook Designs Penguin Pile Set - Naki Rager

I stamped it with light gray ink on watercolor paper and colored in with watercolor. I thought it might be fun to color them light aqua instead of gray or black 😉
I colored the hats with different colors first but I didn't like them, so I stamped the image again and colored them with the matching yellow and gray, then fussy cut them and paper pieced them. I like how fuzzy they look, and they add that little bit of dimension as well, it was a happy accident ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Penguin Pile Set - Naki Rager

I was going to have this sentiment on a banner or something first, but because it is kind of "framed", it was heat embossed right on the front panel.

Newton's Nook Designs Penguin Pile Set - Naki Rager

I heat embossed 3 of the drift ice image on vellum with silver EP and die cut using the coordinating die. They were popped on with glue dots for the penguins to jump on, then applied some glitter using the clear glitter pen. These guys are mounted on a wobbler because they look like they're having trouble balancing themselves! {LOL}

Newton's Nook Designs November Release Day 2

Tuesday, November 12, 2019

Hello, lovelies!
Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs November Release!!!
All the new products will be available for purchase this Friday the 15th in the Newton's Nook Designs Shop ;-)
Today is day 2 and we're revealing another adorable stamp set along with its coordinating die set AND a new stencil!

Isn't the new Newton's Toboggan Set so fun and cute!!?
It looks like kitty heaven gets snow, too, look at Newton having fun with his furiends 💗

Okay, so we all know how awesome the NND Stencils are by now, right!!?
This new Mountains Stencil is a fabulous addition to the Edge Stencil Collection, don't you think!?
Oaky, here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Toboggan Set - Naki Rager

I told you Newton was having fun in kitty heaven 💗
He is sledding down on a hill with his furiends ;-)
I could not resist making a slider with this adorable image!!!

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Toboggan Set - Naki Rager

Isn't this trio of kitties simply adorable!!?
The image was stamped with Antique Linen Distress Ink on watercolor paper so that I could do some no-line coloring. It was die cut using the coordinating die, and I added some white Nuvo Crystal Drops to their hats' pompoms and trims. And yes, the kitty in the front is Newton 💛

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Toboggan Set - Naki Rager

This sentiment and little snowflakes were heat embossed with light gray EP on vellum, then I just snipped off the little piece to create a fishtail. The silver snowflake was die cut using the snow confetti dies from the Snow Globe Shaker Die Set.

Newton's Nook Designs Newton's Toboggan Set - Naki Rager

Sorry about this awkward photo 😝
I wanted to show you the mountain tops, which I first used the new Mountains Stencil as a template on my 5"x7" watercolor paper. The stencil is 6" long so I just lined up 2 random mountain tops to continue on. It was fussy cut, blended some blue Distress Oxide inks, splattered white ink, then added sparkly snow using the Mountains Stencil and Glitter Gel. The mountain panel was mounted onto a 2-1/2" x 7" base card.

Newton's Nook Desgins November Release Day 1

Monday, November 11, 2019

Hello, lovelies!
It is time for the Newton's Nook Designs November Release!!!
All the new products will be available for purchase this Friday the 15th in the Newton's Nook Designs Shop ;-)
Today is day 1 and we're revealing this adorable stamp set!

Woo Hoo!
The Snowman Party is another addition to the NND Square Card Front series and I am so excited!
Here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Snowman Party Set - Naki Rager

So just like the other Square Card Front Stamps, this adorable image fits inside the Frames Squared Die Set.

Newton's Nook Designs Snowman Party Set - Naki Rager

This adorable image was heat embossed with white EP on watercolor paper.
First, I colored the background inside and outside of the square with this very light aqua color. Then I took my time and very carefully colored all the little carrot noses and hats and scarves, well, everything! Then I colored the snowmen with pearl white to give the shimmery look.

Newton's Nook Designs Snowman Party Set - Naki Rager

All the little sentiments that come in the set can fit right in the center of the image.
I heat embossed this one with white EP then colored inside the word cool with the same pearl white.

Newton's Nook Designs Snowman Party Set - Naki Rager

Once it was all dry and safe to run through my die cutting machine, I die cut the panel with the scalloped square from the Frames Squared Die Set. Then, because their eyes were white and you really couldn't see them, I added black Nuvo Crystal Drops. Some iridescent snowflake confetti were sprinkled as a finishing touch and done!

Newton's Nook Designs Snowman Party Set - Naki Rager

I made this gift card holder and decorated the front by heat embossing the Snowman Party Stamp with light blue EP. I even borrowed the teeny "to:" and "from:" from the Joyful Tags Stamp Set.

Newton's Nook Designs Snowman Party Set - Naki Rager

I made this 3-1/2" square envelope using the Envelope Punch Board.

Newton's Nook Designs Snowman Party Set - Naki Rager

I had no clue how it should close {LOL} so the easiest way I could think of was to pop on something using foam tape on one side and tuck in the other side under it. I already had the Joyful Tags Set out so I heat embossed this adorable circular tag with white EP and die cut it with the coordinating circular tag die from the Tags Times Two Die Set.

Newton's Nook Designs Snowman Party Set - Naki Rager

Here's the inside, I created a little pocket to hold a gift card with vellum, then decorated that with part of the Snowman Party Stamp, which was heat embossed with the same light blue EP and fussy cut. After debating with myself, I decided not to color these guys because I love the front panel not colored, so I wanted to keep the same look.

Newton's Nook Designs Snowman Party Set - Naki Rager

You could do this with any of the NND Square Card Front Stamps for any occasion!
Or you can even decorate gift boxes or gift bags, well, pretty much everything!
