Newton's Nook Designs

Wednesday, August 30, 2017

Hi, there lovelies!
I am up on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog today!
So kids are going back to school, or they already have, and if you're like me, going back to school shopping and getting a teacher's gift are so stressful! But at least, making a card/tag to go with the gift is fun with NND ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Newton Dreams of New York Set - Naki Rager

This cute kitty holding an apple is a perfect image for teachers!
It is from the Newton Dreams of New York set and it is supposed to be the "Big Apple", but hey, we all love to stretch the sets we own to their maximum use, don't we? After all, aren't we all creative!? ;-)

I was having the most difficult time coloring last week, I don't even know how many of the same images I colored! I was finally happy with this one right here, which was colored with the colored pencils. I stamped him with Antique Linen Distress Ink on Neenah Solar White Cardstock, and I tried to color him fuzzy but it was pretty challenging with the pencils! I die cut this cutie with the coordinating die, and a few more to layer and give a dimension. I prefer this way instead of using foam tape :-)

The little sentiment was handwritten with the Sakura 0.20mm pen then chopped up!
With the soft colors and soft coloring, I didn't want a big, bold sentiment so this was perfect, especially on my sweet polka dot hearts, which were die cut with the Darling Hearts purr-fect Die set.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Have a lovely day, my friends!

Newton's Nook Designs & Chibitronics Inspirations Week

Wednesday, August 23, 2017

Hello, my lovelies!
This week Newton's Nook Designs and Chibitronics are partnering for a fabulous inspiration week! All week long both design teams will be sharing ways to light up your cards using Chibi lights with Newton's Nook Designs stamps!

We received their starter kit to work with, thank you so much!
I love the name, Chibi means teeny tiny in Japanese, so perfect, right!?

This is what was inside of the box ;-)
Add-on items are available for purchase at their website (click HERE to visit.)

Alright, here is my take...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Newton Dreams of Paris - Naki Rager

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday, and she always appreciates my handmade cards so figured she'd really like this fun, light-up card!
It took me a long time to decide on which stamp set to use with the fun Chibi lights, and thought a lit up Eifel tower would be pretty!

Newton's Nook Designs Newton Dreams of Paris - Naki Rager

Don't you wish you could be in that hot air balloon with Newton!?

The night sky was sponged with Distress Oxide ink on watercolor paper with a die cut Eifel Tower as a mask, splattered some water and copper ink all over the panel, then removed the mask.

I am SO NOT an engineer {LOL}
So I was pretty overwhelmed, but after watching a couple videos on youTube, I gave it a try and it was not as bad as I thought ;-) See!? It lights up as it's supposed to! {LOL}

Newton's Nook Designs Newton Dreams of Paris - Naki Rager

Here is a close-up.
My Eifel Tower was heat embossed with copper embossing powder where I had the mask, and water colored with red gold watercolor in hopes of reflecting the Chibi lights and shine... Well, look at this! These teeny tiny lights are amazingly bright! {Woo Hoo!}

This collaboration was an absolute pleasure, and full of fun!
Now that I have tried Chibitronics and know that it's not scary {LOL}, you must try and see it yourself! It really is a lot of fun, and you'd LOVE your finished project!

I think I say this every month, but I look forward to Newton set and Jen never disappoints me! Isn't this absolutely adorable!!? I'm extra happy about this one because she usually makes fall set for Simon Says Stamp Stamptember, which is only available at their website.
Here come my cards...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Autumn Newton Set - Naki Rager

I am so very in LOVE with these cute autumn images!
I love fall, so many pretty earthy colors outside:-) Not to mention nice, cool breeze and clear blue sky! That was exactly what I was picturing while making this card ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Autumn Newton Set - Naki Rager

This adorable image was heat embossed with tan embossing powder on watercolor paper, water colored, then die cut with the coordinating die. Coloring pumpkins/gourds is so much fun, mixing oranges and greens and yellows...:-) For this one, I kept my kitties and background similar colors, warm and earthy.

Newton's Nook Designs Autumn Newton Set - Naki Rager

My second card is all about layers!
We start layering clothes as the weather cools down, and cooler weather lets you dress in fun and warm patterns as well! {LOVE IT!}

Newton's Nook Designs Autumn Newton Set - Naki Rager

Isn't this so sweet!?
It was heat embossed with tan embossing powder on watercolor paper, water colored (which I enjoyed so very much!), then die cut with the coordinating die set. Now that I've made these adorable fall cards, I can't wait for autumn! ;-)

Newrton's Nook Designs August Release Day 3

Wednesday, August 16, 2017

Hello, lovelies!
Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs August Release!
All the new products will be available for purchase this Friday the 18th over at the Newton's Nook Designs Shop!
Today is day 3 of the reveal, and we are showcasing the Knight's Quest set along with the coordinating die set!

Oh man! Princesses yesterday, now the knights!
And do you see that cute but fierce dragon there!? EEEEK!
Alright, here I go...;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Knight's Quest Set - Naki Rager

This handsome knight actually reminded me of King Arthur, and when I say King Arthur, I'm talking about the one from the British TV show Merlin (I miss that show so much!). So he is royal, and I immediately thought of "Royal Blue", and I LOVE blue with yellow!

Newton's Nook Designs Knight's Quest Set - Naki Rager

He was TONS of FUN to color!
I wanted a crazy, bright color for his armor, but his royal colors looked so good, I colored it gray ;-) A white horse and gold accents on black and white background really make my knight pop, don't you think!!?

Newton's Nook Designs Knight's Quest Set - Naki Rager

My second card is all about this cute dragon💖
This poor guy is under attack! But fear not! He is a fire breathing dragon! {wink}
I borrowed the sentiment "I believe in you" from the Once Upon a Princess set ;-)

Newton's Nook Designs Knight's Quest Set - Naki Rager

He is mad! but still so stinkin' cute 💖
He was heat embossed with black on watercolor paper, water colored, then die cut with the coordinating die. Ohh, I just LOVE his cute, fierce face!

Newton's Nook Designs August Release Day 2

Tuesday, August 15, 2017

Hello, my lovelies!
Welcome back to the Newton's Nook Designs August Release!
All the new products will be available for purchase this Friday the 18th over at the Newton's Nook Designs Shop!
Today is day 2 of the reveal and we're sharing the adorable Once Upon a Princess set along with the coordinating die set!

I am so in LOVE with this sweet and enchanting set!
I'm also loving the fact that Jen is branching out to non-critter images!
These princesses are absolutely adorable, aren't they!?
Here we go!

Newton's Nook Designs Once Upon a Princess Set - Naki Rager

My twins (boy and girl) just turned 4 last Monday (I don't even know how that happened!) and this was for the girl :-) She is all about pinks and princesses and shiny things, such a girly girl!

Newton's Nook Designs Once Upon a Princess Set - Naki Rager

After heat embossing this sweet princess with tan embossing powder, I water colored her dress pink and gold, and her hair bright brown just like her ;-) Her beautiful castle up on the hill was heat embossed with light gray embossing powder and water colored. The hill was die cut from patterned paper with the Land Borders Die

Newton's Nook Designs Once Upon a Princess Set - Naki Rager

{Ugh! Sorry about my dark photos again!}
My second card is more simple but still sweet ;-)
Pink and light green are so sweet together, aren't they!?

Newton's Nook Designs Once Upon a Princess Set - Naki Rager

This princess was inspired by Tiana from the Disney movie The Princess and The Frog, obviously because of the frog prince she's holding...;-) She was stamped with Antique Linen Distress Ink on watercolor paper, no-line water colored, and die cut with the coordinating die. I colored her crown with the gold watercolor but it looked dull and dirty, so I heat embossed only the top part of the image with gold tinsel and fussy cut it.

Newton's Nook Designs August Release Day 1

Monday, August 14, 2017

Hello, there lovelies!
Welcome to the Newton's Nook Designs August Release!
All the new products will be available for purchase the Friday the 18th over at the Newton's Nook Designs Shop!
Today is day 1 of the reveal, and we are sharing the ADORABLE Believe in Unicorns set along with the coordinating die set!

You better take a deep breath before scrolling down...;-)

Oh my goodness!!!
Seriously, isn't this just simply adorable!!?
 Okay, ready to see what I made with these cuties!?

Newton's Nook Designs Believe in Unicorns Set - Naki Rager

Unicorns are such magical creatures, and they all come with sparkly magic dust, right!? The set comes with enough shimmer and shine, I wasn't going to let them go waste! Gosh, even the sentiment has sparkle!

Newton's Nook Designs Believe in Unicorns Set - Naki Rager

This fabulous unicorn was heat embossed with Gold Tinsel embossing powder because she is that fabulous! Her colors were inspired by Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony ;-) After she was water colored, I die cut her out with the coordinating die, and die cut 3 more with blue, pink, and yellow cardstocks to give her rainbow dimension ;-) Her cloud, which was die cut with the Sky Border Die set, even got some gold embossing powder!

Newton's Nook Designs Believe in Unicorns Set - Naki Rager

{The photos of my second card are dark...long story!}
My second card is a total opposite of my first one, black and white!
The reasons for that are #1 just because...{LOL}
#2 It's a magic slider card! When you pull the tab on the side, my handsome unicorn jumps over the rainbow and turns the boring rainbow into a colorful one!

Newton's Nook Designs Believe in Unicorns Set - Naki Rager

Newton's Nook Designs Believe in Unicorns Set - Naki Rager

He was heat embossed with the Rangers Black Sparkle Embossing Powder on watercolor paper, water colored, and die cut with the coordinating die. I added silver shimmery watercolor to the wing ;-) The rainbow was stamped with the Rangers Archival ink on watercolor paper and water colored. Figuring out the tab and lining up the 2 rainbow images took me waaaaay too long {LOL}, but it was well worth it!
